Description

Do not use, copy, or repost without my express permission. I’ve had too many run-ins with people doing it in the past.

Say hello to my latest ship.

You know how sometimes characters do whatever the hell they want when it comes to relationships with one another without your consent? Well it happened again. And this time around it manifested in Elrik and Felix developing a romantic relationship. First same-sex pairing out of all of my characters! And for some reason I'm really giddy about it and keep doodling them in my notes.

So as far as I can tell, Felix came across a torn-up Elrik shortly after Elrik made a run for it from Blair, with a slashed-up chest and carrying his un-attached voice box in his hand. Felix fixed him up, though the entire time Elrik was very wary of Felix, almost refusing to believe he was even a stitchpunk, which didn't go over well with Felix because of how self-conscious he is about his appearance. No idea how Felix talked him down to the point that Elrik was okay with being repaired by him. I wouldn't say they got along very well at first, because of Felix being a somewhat abrasive personality and Elrik being so wary about everything Felix did and acting like anytime he spoke he was going to be smacked for it. Because Elrik had nowhere else to go Felix reluctantly let him stay with him, and had to put up with Elrik having nightmares he'd wake up screaming from, as well as Elrik being overly paranoid and being unable to be in a room by himself a lot of the time. Felix had to sleep in the same area as Elrik a lot and try to calm him down whenever he was being plagued by night terrors or just being irrationally paranoid in the night.

After a bit Felix got used to Elrik's behavior and didn't see it as much of a babysitting job as before, and Elrik became a little less wary and started to warm up to Felix, as he was the first person in his life to be nice to him and not completely dismiss his problems as stupid and went as far as to try and [sort of] help him deal with them - though compared to sociopathic Blair, almost anyone seems super nice - aand I'm pretty sure you can all guess where that went. What's really sad is I'm already listening to songs and picking out ones I feel can apply to them and putting them in their own playlist.

And this isn't decided on yet, but I'm thinking that Felix also put the patch on Elrik's head, after finding him and seeing the haphazard job he'd done trying to fix it himself; I'm trying to imagine what trying to sew your head back together would be like by yourself, especially if you tried to put a patch on it, and I know if it was me I'd do a really bad job and I'd look just as bad as if I hadn't tried fixing it. But like I said, I don't know yet.

Elrik and Felix are mine,
9 and stitchpunks are Shane Acker's.

What do you mean by 'aromantics'?

Aromantic is a term for people that experience no romantic attraction and feel no need to be in such a relationship. They're usually content to just have platonic relationships with others. It's explained much better than I'm capable of over here .

Absolutely precious~! I think Elrik really NEEDS somebody more supportive after all he's been through, goodness...

I'm a little curious, what songs have you picked out for them?

So far I've got What Do You Want From Me, by Adam Lambert; You Raise Me Up, by Josh Groban; I'm Still Here, by Johnny Rzeznik; Chasing Cars, by Snow Patrol; Wonderwall, by Oasis; and Keep Holding On, by Avril Lavigne. And a lot of songs by The Fray - Heartbeat, Look After You, Syndicate, Never Say Never. Some of them only have parts of the lyrics that really apply, some could be from either or both of their viewpoints, etc.

I use Photoshop CS2. I got it for Christmas several years ago. But you can do the exact same kind of coloring in any Photoshop program, like Photoshop Elements. I had Elements first and when I got CS2 later, I didn't have much to adjust to because the same tools and settings were present. I do my lineart and coloring with the basic round brush, and then I put a slight texture overlay on top of the coloring to get that papery feel. I do the same thing to add fabric textures. I've also found that inking with the canvas zoomed in to 200% helps with making the lineart smoother.

Which reminds me, I remember promising a tutorial of my digital art process that I never got around to doing. I should probably put that back on my list of things to do.
