Description
Although this sword is most definitely not of Hastyrian design, it is named according to Hastyrian tradition. Kaenan Drakmarien named the sword Redsteel.

It was forged by the same Erontian mastersmith that created Kaenan's bastard sword, Ironwing. The design was specified by Kaenan himself.
Although technically the heir to the titles of House Drakmarien, Kaenan was in fact raised in the Midlands, far away from his northern birthplace. His uncle, Vaeron, had secreted him away after the disastrous Great River Massacre, in which his father, Gascar, perished, and the subsequent Fall of House Drakmarien. In an effort to escape the newly crowned King Thaedred Sevorica's vengeance for the death of his firstborn, Vaeron took the newly born Kaenan and fled south, eventually taking up with the mercenary company known as the Black Shields.
As such, Kaenan was literally raised from the time he could crawl in the soldiers camp. Having spent his entire life amongst warriors and soldiers, it is little wonder that Kaenan became extremely proficiant in multiple sword combat techniques.
In fact, Kaenan is one of the few, outside of gladiators who literally do nothing but train and fight, to have mastered the famous Jor'uun style, otherwise known as the double blade technique.
Standing at over 6 ft 5, Kaenan had the height and the strength to wield his bastard sword with one hand as an average man might wield his arming sword. To complement and balance the extended reach of Ironwing, Kaenan commissioned Redsteel, effectively a slightly longer than average shortsword.
Wielded in tandem, Ironwing and Redsteel create a lethal web that is constantly weaved around the last scion of House Drakmarien. Most enemies never even make it within striking distance. Few can hope to match such skill, strength and speed. Indeed, Ledasya Moonborn, herself raised among the legendary Luna Sisters, an all-female order famous for their dedication to the perfection of the art of killing, is the only member of the Black Hands who can match it with Kaenan in a battle of skill and speed.
Even Sargon, the Titan of Systeros, cannot match such skill, although if they were to fight seriously, his vast experience would more than likely offset that disadvantage.

Eventually, Redsteel became Kaenan's constant companion. Ironwing was simply to large and unwieldy for close spaces. As such, Redsteel is the weapon Kaenan carries from day to day. Ironwing is only unsheathed should the situation demand it and the circumstances allow it.
