Description This sword is named Shadow Fang and it belonged to Thaedred Sevorica, head of House Sevorica and, eventually, King of Hastyria, who named the sword in reference to the wolf sigil of his House.
The blade was given to Thaedred by his father upon reaching the age of 18. For years, Thaedred carried the sword wherever he went, even on occasion while he was within the mighty walls of the citadel at Sevor, the seat of House Sevorica.
Following the death of King Raelor II Thaene without a male, or female for that matter, heir, Thaedred was one of two men to lay claim to the throne. He carried Shadow Fang to the walls of the capital as he backed his claim with military force.
After a month of fighting, Thaedred successfully took the throne when Kastor Farren withdrew his claim, thus Shadow Fang became the sword of a King.

Although Thaedred had always intended to carry his beloved Shadow Fang into the afterlife, upon his death, his son by a marriage after his coronation, Varo, ignored his late father's wishes and kept the sword for himself, much to the disgust and resentment of Thaedred's loyal retainers.
Varo was barely half the warrior his father was and some saw his appropriation of such a fine blade as insult to its history and his royal father.
When Varo's older half-brother (by Thaedred's first marriage before his coronation) disputed his right to the throne, many of the nobles at court had hoped that Varo might prove to be his father's son after all and lead his men into battle, wielding the mighty Shadow Fang. Instead, Varo sent his nobles to fight his battles and arrogantly struts around the castle at Regalis, Shadow Fang at his waist, a fact that many of the men who knew his father consider a disgrace.
