Description
"These immense herbivorous mammals are believed to be distant relatives of Asiatic Water Buffalo. Though quiet and nonaggressive, they straddle an unusual line in the ecosystem; slightly larger than an African Elephant, they are too large for most predators to tackle even on this island, but slightly too small to have much of a chance against the very largest superpredators. Consequently, they serve as their most stable food source. They dwell in the deeper rivers of Skull Island, often remaining submerged for days at a time. While many superfauna of the island have been observed with small plants growing on their epidermis and fur, this beast has many local flora densely entwined directly into its respiratory and cardiovascular systems, allowing it to stay submerged for days at a time, living on the oxygen provided to it by the plants. Since the 1933 earthquake, these creatures appear to be spreading out to fill the void left by the island's now-extinct semi-aquatic Brontosaurus population.
Addendum, August 15, 2001: Genetics tests on Sker Buffalo samples recovered by MONARCH suggest they are directly descended from Gaur, A.K.A. Indian Bison. Since two surveys on the Vapour Islands recorded a sizable population of Gaur - who seemed to hold a similar niche in the ecosystem as the Sker Buffalo - it's possible that this animal was either deliberately bred by the Iwi or the Tagatu in the distant past, or perhaps it evolved naturally over thousands of years to its current size on Skull Island."
Reality check: this is one of the creatures from "Kong: skull Island". I do not own the rights, etc, etc...
