Description

November 2, 1984

With Godzilla sealed inside Mt. Mihara for the foreseeable future, I have returned to studying less dangerous fare. I have received an invitation from Australia's  Department of Agriculture, to investigate reports of a massive animal roaming the bush near the tiny outback community of Gamulla. Whether the reports are true or not is rather besides the point; I've spent too much time in Tokyo as of late, and Dr. Mitchell has volunteered to come with me to investigate. We plan on driving out into the never-never tomorrow, fully loaded with enough gas, food, and water for a week, as well as appropriate amounts of weaponry and ammunition.

November 3

No sign of the giant boar, though we did see a handful of wild pigs off in the distance. We met with an animal tracker named Sarah Cameron, who has apparently lived out here for quite some time. She claims that something has been disturbing the local hog population, making them unusually aggressive and vicious, even turning cannibalistic.

November 4

No signs of the creature. Slow day. Very hot. Awful smell in the heat.

November 5

Around noon, we found some massive hooved tracks in the dusty ground leading into a small ravine. They resemble pig tracks, but are much larger and deeper than any I've seen. Took plenty of photos. Heard some odd noises in the ravine, but did not find their source. Some rain.

November 6

Today was an odd day. We came across the "Petpak" pet food factory, a dilapidated, rusting, evil-smelling building that seemed to have been designed sometime around the beginning of the industrial revolution by gremlins who had only the vaguest idea of how a factory should look. We were pursued out of the area by two howling young men in a large car, but our vehicle was the faster and we managed to escape before anything could happen.

Later that afternoon, as we had lunch, we heard gunfire in the distance, but the strange winds out here made it impossible to tell which direction it was coming from.

November 7

This morning, we woke up to an unusual sight: the entire car was surrounded by a herd of wild pigs. They kicked up so much dust that it was almost impossible to see past them. However, we did see the silhouette of something the size of a rhino, with several pairs of long, sharp tusks. It charged at the car from the side, and between revving the engine and laying on the horn, we managed to bull our way through the herd before the monster could tear the door off.

November 11

The animal is dead. Apparently, the unpleasant fellows at the pet food factory attempted to murder Ms. Cameron and her friend, Carl Winters, but the monster intervened. Both of the Baker brothers, the men who were in charge of the factory, were mauled to death. It went after Cameron and Winters next. Winters led it onto a conveyer belt that led into a massive industrial fan, and the brute was chopped to pieces.

Blood tests and eyewitness accounts have led to the conclusion that the shredded creature was, indeed, a gigantic razorback boar. How the animal attained and maintained such a titanic size remains unknown.

Note from Dr. Mitchell: in the years since the Razorback incident, the population of feral pigs in Australia initially continued to grow right up until the early '90's. Since then, their numbers have begun to slowly dwindle due to a number of factors. As of 2017, their presence is a shadow of its former self. Genetic testing determined that the giant boar was a mutant created by a number of environmental factors. No creatures with an identical mutation have been reported since.

Reality check: this is the creature from the 1984 movie "Razorback". I do not own the rights, etc, etc...

Interesting. The Millerverse is lovely, and its nice that there's, despite the massive, interconnected story, plenty of largely lore-less weirdos. It seems like you'll be focusing on giant animals for the time being, but what comes next? May I suggest the monolith monsters if you haven't already done them?
