This was a Fractal Explorer piece. [link] I was surprised at this one. After using the program for over 6 months constant, I wasn't aware that it could render something like this. Great program once you learn how to manuever around the limitations.

This is indeed very awesome. It looks navigational. But at the same time,it looks like a spell rune, adorned with skulls.Maybe I'm just morbid?
And then I read the Sauron thing above, that really made me think. Those movies went from moderately good,to let me out of the theater now.I liked the first one, except that Tom was absent.I also did not see the barrow wights...I went to the first movie to see 2 things. The Barrow Wights...and the balrog.I got one, didn't see what I really wanted to.I can't even watch the third one,it bores me.
I miss the books.I want to read them again.I read the Hobbit in the summer before second grade, and I think I read the Lord of the Rings in the third grade.I was gonna read the Silmarillion, but then my mom divorced my dad,and we moved out,I didn't get the chance to grab it.That was when I was in the sixth grade, I think.
Anyway, very awesome pic!

Thanks. The third one was actually the best of the three. Some of the greatest battle scenes ever. Also, get your hands on the Silmarillion. It's kinda hard to get into at first, but once you get over the introductions to all of creation, it rocks. Definately won't be able to put it down.

It's a great image and I like your intepretation of it. I'm wondering if there's a way to increase the contrast between the central image and the "spectral" elements to increase the sense of depth?

Great piece! Reminds me of a clock counting down until zero hour. That and it does look like an eye. Really liking the firey colors you used here.

I forgot, the Egyptians were right up there with the Babylonians at using the stars for different things. Not sure who was first, but there's a lot of data on both cultures being astronomically minded. Not sure where the Summerians, Incans, and Mayans fit in with all this. Should ask my physics teacher. He also teaches astronomy.

Thanks. There was only two things in all three of the movies that I didn't like and the eye of Sauron was one of them. When I read that over 15 years ago, I imagined it as something totally different.

15 years ago I was only three XD
I read them shortly before Fellowship came out, and got mad because there was no Bombadil >__>
They were good though.

A good friend of mine was also upset that Tom Bombadil wasn't in them. That was a key part of the rings history that they unfortunately couldn't fit in. I'd like to see a movie made of the Silmarillion. That's my favorite book of the Tolkien stories. It's all about the creation of the world, the history of the elves, dwarves, and humans, and all the lore that led upto The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. It's hard to get into, but once you hit a certain point, you can't put it down. It explains Shelob, Sauron, Gandalf, Manwe's eagles that rescued Frodo and Sam, and tons of other great gems that make up the story.

EE! Your one of the few people I know that have actually read the Silmarillion! I loved it, even though it got confusing a few times, and I'm not that good with all of the names XD
