This is pretty much how I dress daily ...and my smile looks funky here, oh well.

So I'm not sure about this because.......hmm long story.......so, I'd been drawing pictures of bodices like this, with the curved neckline, the pointy bit over the shoulder, short, pointed bottom in the back (which you can't see here) etc. etc. for years wanting to make some. Then I found this one I loved at some renfair - it was just exactly like I'd been wanting, so that was cool, I bought a couple 'cause I'd never gotten around to making one myself. And the great thing was it actually fit me right, which never seems to happen because I have a small bust. Since then I've tried to track down that seller again, see if I could order another, and can't find them anywhere. There was no shop-name on the recipt. No tags. no nothing to indicate who this was. And since I payed cash no check or anything. So then I dug out the program from that fair and looked through all the websites listed for sellers...couldn't find anything that looked like these ones I loved. Did searches for names of all the clothing sellers listed. nope. Sigh.....anyways...since I'd been wanting to make me some like it anyways, and it actually fit as opposed to a lot of other bodice patterns I've had to do lots of modification to, I decided to use the one I'd gotten as a basis for making a pattern and then tried it out - and made this - so yay! it turned out right. I'm really not sure if I should give credit to the unknown vendor who I bought the orriginal from? The main difference in design here is that it doesn't lace up on the sides like that one did, but I think they may have had some like that too. I dunno. I also thought I was making the straps winder in the front...but somehow they didn't turn out to be. Anyways....I'd definately been designing things just like this myself before I bought the one......but I didn't take measurements and totally make up a pattern on my own - I used the other one as reference for the shapes....so... I hope somebody out there doesn't get mad at me for making this. I've been wanting to get more into bodice making since I love them so much, and put some up for sale....but I don't know if it'd be ok for me to sell any like this....even though I really was drawing 'em just like this before. I don't even know whether that seller had designed them or if they came from some other pattern. I dunno????

Anyways, I made this from a green streatchy courderoy skirt I got at a thrift store, and lined it with some fairly sturdy dark brown, slightly streatchy, fabric scraps I had. I'm super pleased with how it fits! 'cause I really wasn't sure if I was actually making the pieces shaped right and all, or adding the seam allowance very well - since I was eye-balling it.

You can also see here, my most favoritest skirt I've ever made. My trusty green skirt that I wear almost constantly It is of course full circle, with a slight drawstring at the waist -only because I made the waistband wierd so it kinda stuck out....I must not have cut it curved for some reason It also has a little hole in the front because I was climbing over a chainlink fence and when I jumped down it got caught....oh well, it's mostly not noticable - it's just well loved, hehe. I've got no idea what that fabric is. It's light, slightly shimery, very flowy, and most likely not a natural fiber, though it doesn't get any of those little balls or ' pills' on it. I really love that colour of green!!!

In this outfit you can also see one of the little crop-top peasant shirts I've been making I love short bodices, but they always look best with puffed sleves and a gathered neckline....which usually means the rest of the shirt looks all baggy and in need of containment around the waist. So! after folding up my regular peasant shirts and tucking them up inside, I finally decided I just needed to make some short ones that would fit perfect under the little bodices I love to wear and look good over a tank top or long sleves. I made a whole bunch for meself, and now I've started making some to sell as well which you can see here : FayreWear
They come out different each time because I haven't actually made a pattern, I just cut out pieces that look right with something gathered like this it really doesn't need precision.

oh yes, and those are my favorite armwarmers made from over the knee socks that I cut the foot off - great way to get armwarmers!
