Description

A hackamore bridle made for traditional (1:9) scale draft horses, specifically those with bigger heads (I only have two Breyer drafts and they cannot share a bridle).

I kind of used off materials (leather) which were less good, but which can work occasionally and if I don't need to adjust the straps too often. The durability in that sense is important to me, and I find it strange (but also understandable) that often the experienced tackmakers do not mean the bridles to be adjusted for different heads (or bits) constantly. It is because the repeated buckling and unbluckling will naturally wear the leather out. I also want to point out that this is a hackamore for a reason: the navy blue leather is fuzzy, and the sticky materials in bits will stick to it and definitely get messy... It drives me crazy, and I do not have that problem with leathers of better quality.

This bridle also may be among the first ones of my "let's make all browbands from satin ribbon" craze. I made a big bunch of browbands from ribbon because gluing 3 mm ribbon to narrower leather is not an option, unless I used contact glues. I don't know any really good methods for doing that, so I avoid it then. Adding extra color details to bridles is fun, though, so, that explains the ribbon. And let's be honest, if you make a big pile of black leather bridles with silver metal parts, they will be difficult to tell apart, so color details will help identifying them...
