Description

In two weeks my exams start, so I’ll be gone again for a while. I’ve been working on this on and off for quite a time. I’m really not that good at drawing men, I personally think he’s a bit stiff. But I just can’t mentally handle the fact that I have to start over haha maybe one day.

As said before this is my take on the Avatar-world and therefor isn’t cartoon accurate. My Sokka is based on the native-American actor Jerry Wolf. He really looks like Sokka!

! I’m basing Kyoshi Island on Japan, the Earth Kingdom / Ba Sing Se on China, some villages of the Earth Kingdom are based on Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, and other Asiatic countries, the Sandbender Tribes on the Arabic world (non-Islam), the Water Tribes on native tribes (incl. Sami, Inuit, Native American, Yupik, Polynesian, Aboriginal, Sakha, Yakut, etc.) with influences of Mongolia, Siberia, Italy, and Kazachtstan, the Air Nomads on Buddhist Shaolin soldier monks, Tibetan and Buddhist culture, and India, and the Fire Nation on the German Empire, Italy, and the Third Reich with influences of Imperial Japan, Scandinavia, Kazachstan, the Ottoman Empire, and China.

The first outfit stayed pretty much the same, I however gave him back his space sword! It really upset me when he lost it in the Avatar final, so I needed him to have it again. For the second outfit I made more changes, it’s now more based on soldier uniforms from at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The idea of the jacket came from there, I however did change it to make it look more Water Tribe. For me, this is something he would wear in court as supreme judge.

STORY
Sokka is a Water Tribe warrior of the Southern Water Tribe. He is the son of Chief Hakoda and Kya. Sokka lost his mother during a Fire Nation raid, Kya sacrificed herself to keep his sister from harm duo to Katara being the last waterbender in the South Pole. After his father left to fight against the Fire Nation in the Hundred Year War, he and Katara were raised by his grandmother Kanna.

As a teenager Sokka and Katara discovered Aang, who had been frozen in an iceberg with his bison Appa, for one hundred years. Sokka was at first sceptical and distrusting of Aang, unlike his sister. Aang, who is in need of a waterbending master, leaves with Sokka and his sister on a journey toward the Northern Water Tribe.

After their departure from the Northern Water Tribe, Sokka is still saddened by Yue’s sacrifice to become the Moon Spirit. Katara replaces Master Pakku to teach Aang waterbending. They continue their travel with Aang across the world, so he can master the remaining elements. Sokka and Team Avatar helped Aang to halt the Fire Nation’s ambition of world domination and ending the century-long war to finally restore balance to the world.

After the war Sokka went on many more adventures with his friends and eventually helped create the Republic of Nations.

After the Harmony Restoration, Sokka married Suki and together they had a daughter named Zuri, a non-bender. Sokka first served as the Southern Water Tribe representative on the Council, but he later took the mantel of supreme judge of the Republic’s Court of Justice. Sokka found Yakone guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment for his crimes. After hearing the verdict, Yakone bloodbended him and everyone present during the trail in the courtroom.

After the murder of Avatar Aang by the Red Lotus, he is reincarnated into the new Avatar, Korra. Sokka alongside Firelord Zuko, Tenzin, Tonraq, the White Lotus and the Southern Water Tribe infantry thwarted the kidnapping attempt of Korra. After saving Korra, Sokka is permanently injured on his right leg and limps. After the attempted kidnapping, Korra grew up on a Water Tribe compound, away from the public eye. Sokka and Suki moved in to be closer to Katara, who was still morning the loss of her husband. After moving back to the South Pole he took the mantel of CHief. Katara took it upon herself to teach Korra waterbending, though Korra’s instinctive and more aggressive style was nothing like the calm and slow movements she tried to pass on. This very much amused Sokka.

Sokka and Korra had a very close relationship, duo to Korra being isolated Sokka was one of her only friends. He told her all of his adventures and loved to see Korra’s face full of fascination and admiration. Sokka found it import that Korra didn’t only rely on bending and took it upon himself to teach her strategy and improve her reflexes. To lighten her up and give Korra more of a “normal” childhood they did some mischief and pranks, which greatly pissed of the White Lotus at times. At the age of 77, when Korra was 13 years old, Sokka passed away in his sleep.
