Kiitos paljon!

Tausta on väritetty Gimpillä, sotkin siihen erilaisia brusheja ja eri värejä vaan satunnaisesti sekaisin.
Taitaapi olla jotain Gimpin omia siveltimiä, kun en oo erikseen maininnut.

Yay, thanks a lot! I am not very good at drawing creepy things so I am happy to hear that I succeed this time!

Is this an orginal concept, or is this Grumsteed an creature from a game or something of the sort? Either way, fantastic job! The design, textures and details are great and this is truely and eerie looking creature. An interesting break from your traditional style, very nice!

Thank you! I really appreciate your comments!

Grumsteed, both name and design, are from my own imagination. Textures were really nice to draw, but yet I thought this needed some colors and added some digitally. Didn't want to take a risk to ruin original.

Your welcome, I'm glad you enjoy them! I should comment more often, but I'll admit I am fairly lazy when it comes to checking things out on this site! I should drop that habit, after all I met some really cool artists!

Really? You could have had me fooled if you told me it was from World of Warcraft! Especially since I don't play the game...... Hey, digital coloring came out nice! I prefer traditional myself, but that's mostly because I don't have any digital coloring programs or things of the sort! That could be really useful with trying out colors.

No worries, I am happy to see your comments now and then! Quality compensates amount! Although I wouldn't mind seeing your art more often!

If you would like to test some digital coloring program I can recommend Gimp. It is free to download and quite easy to use.

Good to know you enjoy reading them, I should log on more often. I agree, I like to submit finished pictures, but I take a lot of time on them, not to mention I work on more than one drawing at a time.

Well, as tempting as that sounds, I just really prefer traditional. I'm so much more familiar with it, plus don't you need a pen tablet thing to draw and color digitally?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Agaave In reply to Scuter [2009-06-16 09:58:56 +0000 UTC]

You can also draw with mouse, but of course it is easier with pen tablet. I started with mouse but I got tablet soon after downloading Gimp. I also prefer traditional but it is fun to do also digital pictures sometimes. Althought there are lots of traditional medias I would love to learn to use, like watercolors...

Scuter In reply to Agaave [2009-06-16 23:39:02 +0000 UTC]

Interesting, but I'll still stick with traditional! Trying to draw with a mouse is REALLY different from just using a pen. Oh, watercolors are fun. I colored that Bloody Battle picture with watercolors.

Agaave In reply to Scuter [2009-06-18 16:13:28 +0000 UTC]

Yes it is, and even if you had a tablet it still differs from traditional pencils because you have to watch screen and draw on a table.

I bought some new brushes today, now I really have to try watercolors again to test them.

Scuter In reply to Agaave [2009-06-18 16:54:34 +0000 UTC]

Thats right! That sounds so weird, it must take a while to get used to.

Cool, are you going to use the paints or the pencils?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Agaave In reply to Scuter [2009-06-19 06:25:53 +0000 UTC]

It did! But once you learn it it is easy.

I am going to use paints because in my opinion water color pencils with water are even more unpredictable than paints! Never know how strong color is when water is added...

Scuter In reply to Agaave [2009-06-19 22:36:40 +0000 UTC]

The only time I really stuck with watercolor pencils was for the third comic I made, "Timeless." It had an interesting faded look, that and I couldn't put too much water and paint on that kind of paper. In the end that pages are still a little wrinkly. I should try and find a way to upload the comic, though I regret to say it's another unfinished story. The book is complete, it's just it ends with a "to be continued..." and I never got into started the second part. Especially since all the materials I had were from school so I can't use the same paper or even the colored pencils. Eh, for what it was, it was something different fun and interesting.

Agaave In reply to Scuter [2009-06-20 11:21:07 +0000 UTC]

Tell me about it! I have several beginnings for different stories but none endings...

And I hate when paper wrinkles... I have some awesome water color paper that doesn't care how much water you put on it but it is also damn exprensive so I don't want to use it for practicing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scuter In reply to Agaave [2009-06-20 18:28:27 +0000 UTC]

I have the endings.... in my head... I just don't put it down on paper! Do you write stories? Or have you ever made any comics? Maybe you should try that out sometime. I'm sure you'd have fun with it!

Heh heh, I know what you mean. I actually have these two small canvas boards but I don't even want to touch them because I don't want to make a painting then end up hating how it came out and lose one of those boards.

Agaave In reply to Scuter [2009-06-21 19:03:00 +0000 UTC]

I also have lots of stories in my head - beginnings, endings or middle happenings - but I rarely write them down. They're mostly just inspiration sources for my drawings. For example what has happened before the moment in the picture or what is going to happen after it or what is character's personality like etc.

Comics are not for me, I can't draw one character many times, it always ends up looking different in every panel.

Scuter In reply to Agaave [2009-06-24 20:47:34 +0000 UTC]

Do you have any particular favorite stories? Maybe you should share some, type out a quick draft and see what all your watchers would say. Just try something different. It could be real fun and your fans will most likely love it! Just an idea though, you don't have to do it.

Ah, that's odd. Understandable though, I have just noticed, I don't think any of your creatures are the same. Yes they may have similarities, but I don't think you've drawn the same one twice. At least not that I remember.

Agaave In reply to Scuter [2009-06-25 07:06:27 +0000 UTC]

Actually I just wrote down a beginning of the story for two unicorn creatures that popped in my mind. You can read a shortening of it here: [link]
In Finnish I have more detailed text for this story but I translated only the most important parts in English. If I continue story I may try to translate it better.

Awesome! I'll be sure to check that out sometime soon, maybe you can submit it when you finish. I'm sure many of your watchers would like to read it.

Agaave In reply to Scuter [2009-06-28 07:19:45 +0000 UTC]

As far as I know many people here don't even read artist's comment so I think it is too much to expect them to read whole stories.

But first time I felt that I had an idea that wanted to be written, so I kinda wrote it for myself and not for big audience. If you can understand what I am trying to say here...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Scuter In reply to Agaave [2009-06-28 20:01:40 +0000 UTC]

Huh, well, it's worth a try. Me and Matt submitted a story, got a few comments. At least I know they read it and liked it!

Ha, honestly, I never write or work for an audience! That's not a good idea... but I like it more when it's what I want. Then again, I don't write often, so I should write more, especially with all the stories I have, I don't want to forget them. But, yes, I do understand what you're saying. You need to be sure you can capture and maintain the audience's attention, that's very important. It's not hard to get someone to look, but it's great if you get them to keep looking.

You did a great job coloring the pic.

Defiantly have the dead zombie look. The wounds look spot on, great job.

Personally I would of made the eyes more pale white instead of grey, but that's just my preference.

Agaave In reply to Adreos [2009-04-30 11:09:12 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

I just put some reds on wounds, happy to hear that they look good. I wanted to keep quite neutral colors everywhere so that's why eyes don't stand out more. But I think that is good tip, may try different versions next time. ^^
