Not sure if the character is happy at all but I just wanted to draw a happy moment for her. 
Nah, scanner didn't eat shadows, I didn't draw them!
I know they could be more clear but I just thought it is sunny day so there won't be any clear shadows while on the sky.
Clouds are difficult to me too... In this drawing I just left paper white there where I wanted a cloud be and softened edges - and actually the whole blue area - with a swab.

Personally, I do like you say, but I add some blue-grayish tint in it to make some shadows >.> Not sure if its right tho

Yep, you have good point there, clouds have some shadows too. I guess in this sunny scene dark blue would have been too much but overall it would make coulds look more 3D.

Aww happy pretty critter! The way the red fur blends with the grey looks really good, nice and soft. I love the wings, they're really good, as often happens, wings can both look like they should be on the left or on the right but these actually look like they're both on the sides they shold be! Very well done, I can't manage wings very well XD

I have been in a red mood lately and wanted to use that color also here in the background but then I thought I should try to avoid red overdose and chose happy blue sky with soft clouds instead. So I am happy to hear that you like my choice! ^^
