Description Macro Star Hive Ocean Landing

We could see it as it approached our world, and it was really big. It's size rivaled that of most small moons, and exceeded that of some. As it came closer, we soon saw small craft begin to spread out in our atmosphere. They were soon discovered to be operated by insectoid drones. As the giant ship drew near, the drones settled to predetermined positions.

As we watched, the moon sized ship slowly descended to the surface of our ocean. From there it could send out missions of combat drones to exterminate the indigenuous occupants of the planet. We knew that we only had days left to live if we were unable to escape the world. We decided to work toward evacuating everybody that could get to a ship. Soon, like so many others, our world was taken, and we were left having to find another world to settle on. More than half our population perished in the war we fought against them, and we soon realized we could not sustain our numbers against such overwhelming numbers of combat drones. We had actually lost the battle before it even started.

What We Discovered During the War:
The ship is called Macro Star Hive. It is 15 miles wide. It is a ship of the "Insectoid Coalition", which is a union of several thousand intelligent hiveminded insectoid species. Each ship carries 1,000 different queens that are the commanders and the producers of all the drones. Each ship has a capacity for up to 1,000,000,000,000 Insectoid Drones; of which there are thousands of types. Their sole purpose is to expand their intergalactic influence. They can actually land their Macro Star Hives on the surface of a black hole!
This is a K5 civilization.

Credits:
Macro Star Hive - Modeled in Wings 3D by Yours Truly, imported into Bryce 7.1, textures applied in the Deep Texture Editor of Bryce.
Planet Environment - Sky was done in Bryce's Skylab. Clouds were done on an infinite plain created in Bryce, and the texture is one of my own creations. Water is done on another infinite plain using one of the default water textures that come with Bryce. Land was done by creating a terrain object, scaling it to look the way I want it, and textured using one of the terrain textures in Bryce called Painted Desert.

I have to say this render looks to be the best I have ever done using Bryce 7.1!
