This image is one I am particularly proud of because it turned out exactly the way I wanted it. The Backdrop was done in Bryce 7.1 Pro using a technique David Brinnen came up with due to a question I asked him. This is my second image done using that technique. The two Suns in the sky and the icy landscape with a space elevator and facility in the distance did exactly the way I wanted.
The Star-fighter is one I made in Wings 3D and it is called a Scorpius Class Fighter. I placed a pilot inside it in DAZ Studio. The scene was composed and the lighting was created and edited to match that in the backdrop. Final Render was done in DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro 3Delight.

The Story

There's a valuable mineral which has crystallized in a peculiar way due to the light of two different Suns, which makes the crystals useful for star drive systems. The outcrop of rock near the space elevator facility is rich with these crystals.

This world is one of very few worlds that yields these crystals in fairly high quantities. So it is a world that many sentient space faring races want. As this one is in the human occupied area of the galaxy, it rightfully belongs to the human race. Other races want to take it, and will do so by force if they can. So a special class of fighter was developed to protect the valued world. It was named for a mythical creature of Earth and resemble the actual living ones that are on Earth to this day, giving it a deadly appearance. that appearance is actually true to its capabilities, as it is highly maneuverable, lightning fast, and has quite formidable armament.

Here as the cargo laden space elevator car rises toward space, a lone fighter patrols the area on the lookout for any sign of alien pirate ships that would attack and take the cargo.
