That is a gorgeous example of late a 15th century set ^^ Gothic has been one of my favorite types of medieval armour and this is just fantastic.

A jewel of the middle age, is beautiful... I think is too heavy.

Very nice, although I'm more of a twelfth or thirteenth century chap myself, these days. Heraldry and armour got a bit over elaborate towards the fifteenth, and it was all interminable dynastic wars and scraps with the French. No decent crusades to sink your teeth into.

Your work is wonderful! I love seeing how much you put into your historical pieces. This is now in a museum? Wow, you make a full set of armour, it ends up in the Royal Armouries and all you have to say is one line in the description. You are very modest I'm looking forward to seeing the next suit you're making!

Thanks Feantauriel.

I was really apprehensive about saying too much about the suit until I got permission from the curator as I didn't want it to appear as an inappropriate endorsement. I did upload a few more pictures of it today where I mention more about the suit. Also, there is a bit more info on my website.

I am making another suit like this one for a customer now, it isn't very far along but hope to upload some progress pictures in a few weeks.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement,

William

I don't know if I agree Behydezell... I have tried many times at illuminating manuscripts and have never gotten results anywhere near as good as yours. You have great skill!

Have you considered selling prints? I would definately be interested in getting a few... well when I am less broke hehe

A fellow armorer from Quebec made one identical to that one last year... seems like a popular project! Always impressive thought!

Ageofarmour In reply to Sebbal [2008-02-18 09:51:55 +0000 UTC]

Yep, the original is pretty popular. It is really the epitome of Gothic style and absolutely loaded with piercing and fluting.

I have another I am making for a customer but I don't expect it will be finished for another year. I'm excited about it because the customer wants to go all out so I have the chance to do all the things I omitted when I made the one in the picture.

Just set your mind to do it Azmal. The original suit is probably the biggest reason I decided to be a full time armourer. I said the same thing "I'm going to make that one of these days." It took about 6 years working part time on it but the whole thing gave me quite a sense of accomplishment.

Thanks for the comments,

William
