Description Atlantic Horseshoe Crab

Limulus polyphemus

I was crabbing in the bay with my brothers, nieces, and my nephew when I pulled up a curious catch in a run-of-the-mill crab pot. Stuck inside of the green mesh was a horseshoe crab that was after the bait, I hauled it up and got it out without incident. My brother Connor, *cam91 , held it for me to take a few pictures of it's rather interesting and infamous underside, which looks like something out of the film Alien. I'm not thrilled with this picture my flash ruined it in my opinion but it was a fun day and thought it worthy of posting. Enjoy, -ahv

Not really but I wouldn't want to hurt one of them, I think they're becoming rare or endangered.
