was this based on a photo? Or do you like to do draw landscapes from life

This was based on a school project where we had to draw from real life ( this is the history museum in town ).

Wonder if they could open the roof for him to look inside...?

I know them useum well as I liv practically next door... and I can state for certain they could not if it were the case...

The only problem is that
1... it's not real ( and I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing )
2... even if it were real, there's nothing in there that a dragon would find of interest...

It's the principale of things here... I love dragons, and because, at the time, I liked how the particular drawing turned out, I wanted to further it by adding the dragon... presently I think the pic is really old and full of flaws... but at that point in time it was my best work...

...right. I just wanted to trow funny idea... Why, if its a museum then ofcourse there is something "he" (as person) might like but, your drawing

A flawless picture is an empty paper... so dont worry.

why do you say that???

Why would a dragon be interested in some old ( although nice ) weapons and half crumbeling monuments and statues as well as other objects belonging to times long-past???

Ugh... it depents. If he likes to look at such things or learn about history. I like to visit museums very often.

+ Dragons (in my opinion ofcourse) are as soulful and humane as we are... They are to me just another person.

I guess that depends from how you see your dragons as...

as stated earlyer, my dragon character rests somewere in between trouly inteligent and animal... and is a bit of bolth... as such my dragon would rather be outside flying (he loves to fly ) or hunting, or playing some simple but entertaining game with somebody ( be it elf or dragon ) then having to learn about a history that dosen't even belong to himself or his race... or even his master's race...

and I would not call dragons to be "humane"... but then again, over the history, humans prooved that they themselves are not "humane" either... wich is a true irony givven the name of a concept that humankaind only pretends to have...

SO I would not go and say that dragons are like us in the least... but rather that dragons are simply themselves... that humans and dragons share fealings and emotions and mental capacities that are common to other inteligent or half-inteligent beyings is only proof of a greater scheme at play...

SO no... I don't think dragons are like humans... such comparacies can only be born out of one's pride and ignorance ( please, no offence intended )...

In the greater scheme all have their own place... but the problem is that some races or groups of individuals will not accept that, and in the false belief that they are better will try to impose their will on others quite forcefully... that they are stronger then those around them dose not make them better... mearly lustfull for power over those that they believe to be weaker then them... that is, untill a stronger oponent apears and shatters their plans... such is the way of the so called "inteligent" and "superior" and "civilised" races... and this need not be restricted to a mear fantasy relm of story... taking a look through human history one can see that it rings true even there...

I like to think of dragons ( in the imaginary realm of cours... I have no doubt they NEVER existed in real life... ) as not having interest in the petty concerns of the shorter lived races... simply put, they live a simpler but happyer and more fulfilling life... ( but obviously there will always be those that are coroupt or evill, and spending time around said lesser races, will begin to act like them... wich resoults in part of those troully evill dragons one hears about in myth and legend... another part are simply those that are mentally unstable ( yes, even dragons can have mental ilnesses, or contract physical ilneses that make them go crazy... like rabies... ) and the last part is mear propaganda made by the lesser races... a dragon beying so much more powerfull ( as an individual ) than any human ( for example ) makes them fear that beying... and rightfully so... but out of fear, and missunderstanding comes agression... and from that, coordinate atacks and extermination... (and I once read a poem about this exact statement... of how humans almost exterminated dragons simply because they feared them... a really touching one wich I still have saved somewere on my HD )

I am a religious person and I respect my Orthodox faith... but I belive that religion did not do mouch to remind us humans were our place is... we are foulishly thought that we are the "greatest" of God's creations... but over all the pain and destruction and suffering that we do, I have become quite confident that that statement is quite false... but then again, each individual is different... so there is yet hope... this is an opinion that exists solelly in real-life... and is not conected with the fantasy world I was talkin about earlyer...

The point ot all this senceless rambeling is that there should not be comparitions made between races... least of all comparitions with humans...

Souls have race nor gendar. Thats what i believe, and revieling; I am christian too, Lutherian.

You will and i urge you to follow your own heart in matter of faith. I wont force you unto anything but...

Fysical things are just fysical and they fade. To me world was and still is full of things that is/are unknown. To me fantasy and thinking something might be behind the next corner or over the hill is hope, not escapism.

Races are not same 100%. But if you look into a soul the difference becomes so small, that only the fanatic/greedy ones will see it.... (or even try to.)

"Matt. 11:25-30" I though you might be interested?

A small thing... I NEVER mix fantasy with religion... to me they are like oil and watter... they do not mix... and as stated earlyer, the emphasis in my story is more on a physical and psichological point of view, and not on a spiritual one...

Spirituality is best left for real life, is what I say...

ANd as far as I am concerned... all fantasy is is an escape from the grundge of day to day life... nothing more...

As far as my religion goes, I am no zealot... I sometimes go to church, and say my prayers daily, and try to be a good persone and so on... but that's aout the extent of it...

I do not like to think too much about religion, and most importantly I do not seek explanations to it... such thi ngs are best taken as are and accepted... it's so much more easyer like that...

Yes yes... but what i tryed to say is that... my life and my books story are related so i dont expect for you to understand completely.

If it is... then wh do people find hope to live in it? Why do they learn lessong from them? Why are there common things that we can relate to?

Because Fantasy is not an illusion.
Nor is it abslute reality, but rather hearths desire.

Hmmmm i wont mix in my book 'too' much either.

How about something completely off the page... Like... i like your art how about mine? You seem to like citque, you can stamp some on my work too

ajder In reply to AnuOjat [2007-10-17 15:48:22 +0000 UTC]

hope to live... were do they find that? in religion or in fantasy... because your statement is rahter cryptic and I am having a bit of a hard time understanding what you mean...

I wil lagree with you on one thing though... fantasy IS the hart's desire... and my hart's desire is not to invoulve religion in fantasy ( because to me that corsses some boundaries I do not feal comfortable in corssing )... and to find in fantasy a relief from the burdens of day to day life... to be able to do things I never would in real life... for me, that's the entire pourpouce of having a fantasy... not to belive in... but to dream about... and maybe... for a short moment, to be able to live that fantasy... not as me... but as the character I created... to imagin how everything would look through his eyes... Some people would think I am troully crazy for that... but I really don't care... And I don't plan on caring about it any time soon...

ANd lastly... are you absolutelly sure you want me to critick your works??? You might not like what you hear... because I tend not to be very delicate when it comes to that... but if you sincerally are looking for constructive critick... you will get it... Saddly I have had to deal with people who did not take kaindly to some simple honest critick... I have no desire to go through that again...

In my book its our world in its trueform in year 3508...
Dont make too much comment; thats the answer for you question.

I desire critique... because its one of the things that drives me to improve. I am sure; go ahead it would an honor

Both good sides and the bad plz.

ajder In reply to AnuOjat [2007-10-17 18:04:04 +0000 UTC]

My question???

First of all I didn't ask you anything reguarding your story... I'm preatty sure of that... nor do I expect you to reveal anything of it... As such I am courious what made you reveal this bit of info about it so freally... without beying asked for it...

and that year, 3058, makes it a SF work wich I am not to enthusiastic about anyways...

as for critick... it is my firm belief that critick is most efective when done on a work in progress... criticking on an already finished work is preatty much useless as people will rarelly go back on it and modify...

SO if you really want constructive criticism, it's going to be of most help on a pic you are still working on... it's your choice weather you want to share or not...

If i ask for critic who not be simple and give it. I decide and i know what lets me improve!

And... Its only lil bit science fiction. most of all its drama/adventure/fantasy... why is this so? It comes clear when i have finished the book ofcourse

So plz; yes or no.

Haha, this is a wonderful composition!

You have a great eye on architecture, the perspective and angling is juuuust right. :]
Something about this image... it reminds me of one of those old postcards turned golden with age -- it really brings out a sense of 'looking back at the old days'. So to speak.
The addition of the vehicle adds a modern flare, nice contrast.

well, it was not really an idea, it was a school project ( like I said in the description ) and after finishing it, I realised a had too much free space above, and decided to finish the pic acordingly. It is a very old pic, and the dragon design in it is teribly out of date. ANd to make matteres wors, I do not envision that I will be atempting to redo this picture in the forseeable future. But thanks for stoping by anf for the comments.
