Celebrating that I passed the exam from invertebrates yesterday, I painted this picture of the little-known water bears (the Tardigrada phylum). I love them, they are so cute, they just deserve to be painted! ^^ I painted two species of them.Oh, and the background isn't so blurry because I am lazy, but 1) to lead your eyes exactly to the little creatures and 2) also because the Tardigrada are only 0,5 mm small and it would look weird if the background would be sharp and detailed.
And the thing that looks like a tree branch is definitely NOT a tree branch, but some very artifical thingy that has been put into the image just for the little water bears to stand on ^^

I remember water bears from the Most Extreme show on animal planet that had them as the number one survivor, they can survive through so much, and they are so cute! amazing little critters.

The water bears! I love those little things! I saw 'em on Animal Planet's Most Extreme loved 'em ever since! I wish they were bigger though... Then I could cuddle them and have some as pets! You did a great job on this piece btw. They look so...so...CUTE!

I study biology. First year, with no specialization yet, but I tend to ethology the most. And I love invertebrates, so you can expect more paintings of them

Oh, I love this picture. It's really cute and nice - and the blurry background sure adds a lot to it. I haven't yet had the chance to come across water bears, in nature or in books, perhaps because I tend to stray away from invertebrae

awesome.. i always thought about drawing a water bear. The ones I usually see are the "earless" one that sorta remind me of a manitee with many legs lol The two on each end are so cute, they look like cartoon characters with impish ears...but I thought that water bears had translucent bodies? Anyway great colors!! I'd love to see more art of these little guys.

Nice work! I didn't even know such an animal existed, and you managed to make them look cute! (I normally don't associate invertebrates with cute). The shading is excellent, and the blurred background helps to make them stand out even more. The colors are very realistic, as well.

Water bears can survive ANYWHERE. They just go into their frozen hibernation mode until they can move about again. They could even survive in space! I heard about them on Animal Planet. XD This is a great picture! Water bears are cute, aren't they?
