Description I think its Shark Week by now... at least I am sure it is. I been in and out of paying attention, but judging from all the crazy shark related stuff on Discovery and Animal Planet, among other such channels, I assume it is.

What better what to celebrate than to expand on shark kaiju.

Originally I wanted to try making new shark kaiju... cause sharks are just perfect sci-fi and nightmare fuel, arn't they? But in the end I found myself going into another direction...
Recently in Dawn of Monsters, Shairka had been separated from Marian and recently I decided to keep it that way for many years in the story. The idea is that Shairka was still a juvenile kaiju and comes back years later as this adult creature. I won't say much more on plot cause I am already spoiling a ton of crap just saying this alone...

The only drawback is that sharks with arms and legs are overdone when it comes to Kaiju... Thresher, Carcharius, Carchardon, and a few others I can't think of. and as once said, "Adding arms and legs to an animal is a somewhat cheap way to make a kaiju different" ..or something along those words. I apologize if I botched them.
I can't think of a way to make Shairka even better without giving her some huge makeover or something, or something like that.

But then here comes the trailer for Monster Hunter 4 and gave us this ugly thing monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Zā€¦
I don't think it takes much to see I was inspired by this this. I admit, I was. But giving Shairka arms and legs goes back to earlier in the year with Kira Marian coming into KAS. So its not completely plagiarism.

Anyway, feedback is encouraged.

I like that this feels like both a Shark and a Crocodile-type creature at the same time, you pulled that off nicely. The pose looks fluid and dynamic but some parts of the right leg do seem a little off. It's really good anyway, I liked the overall design of this thing.
I gotta disagree with previous comments on it looking like it couldn't run fast on land, I kind of imagine it having a leaping gait, like the Dog-Demon things from Ghostbusters.

I always imagined her walking along like a big toad, or something. The idea for the legs was to be all demonic and "wrong" looking. Like, primitive, lacking feet.. give or take. Guess most don't agree, though. The idea is Frog plus Shark, which... meh, I don't know.

I see, so its more of a deformed beign or not really symmetrical. Gotcha. Looks great, either way!

Not quite deformed as much as.. well.. I honestly don't know. Making kaiju requires making things look monstrous in many cases as I tried here.
Either way, thanks, and thank you for the watch ~w~

Awesome design and pose!

You can draw creatures at an angle... Hmph.

I actually like the overall design, though I do agree with the others, the legs look a bit off. Hmmmm, I think this adult Shairka would need something like crocodilian-style legs, because I can see that she/he won't be a fast runner on land.

An idea to say the least.

I think part of the problem (or solution, maybe?) is figuring out exactly how this version moves on land, and how often. The legs you have now are pretty long and well-developed, with bulging muscles, complex joints, and five digits. They look like the legs of something that spends a lot of time on land and can run, maybe even climb- so my question is, would this be a purely terrestrial creature, or is it amphibious? I think there are anatomical changes you can make to better suite its role, whichever it is.

Hmm well noted. I almost want to do this frog-like stance.. or a toad. Maybe even dig. Its a fresh idea and im not even sure of what I want exactly.. other than the plot I have in hand.

THe legs don't look quite right to me. However I really do like the look of her over all design.

Whats with the legs?

"They just don't quite look right." As I said above.

ya I know that but be specific.

I don't really have much beyond that. They just sort of feel off, like they don't belong to her.

Nice design! You kept it reconizable as Sharkia and made it look more as an adult. However Cene did raise a good point: How would the legs help with her swimming abilities? DO they fold up? Does she doggy paddle? Or does she swim like a crocodile with her legs put up against her body?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

AkityMH In reply to Shadyserpent269 [2013-08-06 22:05:29 +0000 UTC]

The legs may help or prohibit. It all depends.. so much time ahead, I aint sure yet myself.Ā

ProfessorCene [2013-08-06 18:55:48 +0000 UTC]

Well, she's certainly become more freaky looking. Her limbs don't quite look like they'd help when swimming yet. Maybe they fold up in a way to act as fins?

AkityMH In reply to ProfessorCene [2013-08-06 22:04:36 +0000 UTC]

Maybe, maybe not. Adult Shairka may act more like like a land animal then a fast swimming shark at this point. Its a ways off so I got time to decide.
