I keep finding myself jumping down the Heraldric animal list. Mostly mythical, but Lucy was obviously not a mythical creature, but that isn't where I got this idea from.Some time before I made Len Lengura, my Anteater/Armadillo kaiju, I had a different idea. I didn't want a ant eater. I wanted a bat monster, and I was hell bent on that.
Drawing after draw though left me discouraged. Every drawing I did of a bat sucked a big donkey dong and looked derpy, goofy and everything. That might have worked, thinking of it now... but I digress.
Wanted to throw another swing at it. I took features from canines and bats, threw them in a blender, and made this thing.
Its a fair design, I think. A big lower jaw, almost slack jawed really. Prowls, eats, has a taste... I had mind to make it a False Vampire Bat. Those guys are scary. They eat other bats! A cannibal.
But there really are no other bats... least I could make it to where there were and this guy ate them all.
I wanna say its original, but I would be flat out lying through my teeth. In the Avatar: Last Airbender and Legend of Korra series, there is an animal called a Wolf Bat which is as it sounds. Looks a little like this, but not at all, too.
And its a homage to Silverwings. Hayes also did a Silverwings homage, too.
so is it original? Not really. But in this day and age, its hard to make one without burning your brain. So I rather not sweat it.

The pose is awesome, and the whole thing is awesomely realized. Epic work.
While the body may not be that much original, the idea is still interesting. Since it's a cannibal and everything, why not making it a sort of Ghoul? Not necessarily undead, but a gaunt, sick, wretched creature that feeds on any living and dead being it finds. Kind of like this [link]

I would exaggerate its predatory/lupin/feline traits. Make it a real killer. A king of cannibals. An animals that once lived in a vast swarm, but ATE every single one of his kin to the point of becoming a giant.

Hmmm, it is and it isn't. There are parts like teh face and the jointed thumbs that are new to me but overall it isn't anything mind-blowing.

That's fine, take your time. Bat's can be a real bitch to do...hmmm...you know you could give it a long tail with a retractable venomous blade at the tip, call it a 'Manticor' or something.

*shrugs* You could always give it some feline, ape or wolf elements.

Depending on how you want to do it. Ape for a slightly more humanoid version, maybe something along the line of an eyeeye. Wolf and bat always goes well together, good for night hunters and savage nature. Cat and bat would be great for a stealth based monster, passibly being jet black like a panther and bleding in to such a degree even creatures with good night vission are unable to see it. For dragons I imagine it would be a demonic cave sieger. I mean imagine a foe who could crawl in, make no sound, able to navigate a cave with a sense you can't begin to understand, at any time just vanish into teh darkness. If nothing else it would be a supreemly good hatchling/egg hunter.
