Description Wow ya know something? Its the 18th and thus over half of this month... and I have drawn and scanned almost nothing on paper. Where the hell am I going? All digital? I need to step up my game.
But ironically tonight drawing turned out splendid. just look at this, it is epic!

For those of you who know my stuff, you may remember I did some Fenrir sketches a while back trying to get a good kaiju design down... well that overall idea is still in the works. Since Kaiju All Stars STILLLLL has no picked up, I haven't really worked on Kaiju an awful lot, but I mean to remedy that a bit.

Making a monster isn't all about making a abomination horror like The Thing or a zombie, or something obvious like that. Sometimes I feel its small details that make monsters. Example: In Jurassic Park, the T-Rex looks exceptionally menacing because of how big its head is as opposed to a real Tyrannosaur, and more pronounced eye ridges. It looks off, making it seem more menacing and monstrous.
Thats the angle I'm pretty much aiming for a bit here. Making a wolf very monstrous without warping it into something fugly is a challenge I mean to overcome. They're arn't that many wolf kaiju last I checked. Canine kaiju in general, but not wolves specifically.
A pair of backwards facing sabre teeth was a good choice, in my opinion. Thin, sharp and way out of place. Two rows of small horns I think work fine as well, and the tufts of fur on the end of the ears give Fenrir an almost bat-like look. Finally there is the mouth... that freaky looking joker grin put on an animal is just freaky. Going a bit far in the abomination department, but I like that look.

I tried, anyway. Critique is encouraged.

Is this Fenris a villain or a villain's pet?

Anyway, your interpretation of the beast is as menacing as mine is realistic.

So far it seems my Fenris will be flat out Lillian. I can't imagine Fenrir being any sort of pet, since... well, he bit the hand of a god off. Pets don't bite gods hands off.

Is this just a project or part of a much bigger idea?

Kinda both? KAS(Kaiju All Stars) is a small group of kaiju makers which is a commune project of sorts of all our ideas. Thats most likely where this Fenrir will go.

This thing has LOADS of character just pouring out of it's ears! You really did a number on this crazy wolf monster and hit it right out of the park!

I think that shot on the left works best. The long, toothy snarl and Toho-kaiju fangs, the large body, the pointed nose, the elongated neck and ruffed up fur... it's got that look I think you were going for, not far removed from the real animal but exaggerated in a lot of subtle ways to make it feel more monstrous. That one turned out REALLY well, and the pose is solid and three dimensional to boot. The feet in the front are a little iffy, but overall that sketch looks great. Kudos on that one, man, it looks killer.
Things kind of fall apart after that, though: the proportions on the rearing-up pose feel a lot more "fancy DA wolf" and less "giant wolfish thing", and while I commend you for trying foreshortening on that angle shot, the head shot is pretty messed up. Left sketch steals the show for sure.

Well the left picture took up most the page and stuff. The other two sketches naturally got a bit botched...
but that left picture is still roockkinng it! AHH YES! I love it when I pull stuff like that off.

Oh, it's not for sale? Bummer.

*Throws away 200 dollars.*

But in all seriousness, this thing looks nice. Reminds me of Haye's Fenris, but that's a given since they both draw inspiration from the same source.
