Hugin and Munin are Odin's (God of Norse mythology) source of info. so they are said in many books i'm sure ^_^ they are even in the Tiger's Quest (2nd book of Tiger's Curse series) i think they are pretty awesome

They are not crows, but ravens. There is a certain difference between crows and ravens, and Hugin and Munin are Odin's ravens.

This reminds me a bit of The Sight. It has the same "end of the world" theme with wolves and birds that see for it's wolf counterpart.
