Barriss Offee took a selfie in her quarters while visiting the moon of Pantora. I have no idea why my generation is obsessed with selfies, but I think Barriss fits the original intended purpose of a selfie. She's rather timid and introverted, so she would most likely take a picture herself than ask someone else to take a picture. I even took the additional steps of making the dimensions of the render a 5x7 so that it would be as if from a camera. I hope you like it.

Artist's note: Yet again, I had another down and rough day. A good friend of mine told me recently that one of the best things that I can do when I hit bottom is make positive and happy art. I must admit that's not the sort of art that's sinking barbed teeth into my inspirations, but I gave it a shot anyways. My mind often flirts with the idea of characters being aware of the artists that portray them and that they have a relationship with their artists. So much emotion can be sent from the writer to the page when he/she is telling a story about their favorite character. Sometimes, I like to wonder what it would be like if the character could break the fourth wall and reciprocate the emotions. So, Barriss, being one of my favorite characters in my art, knew that I was having a run of bad days and decided to send me a picture of her. It isn't a typical smile though. She wanted me to see the smile that says a thousand words and infinitely more emotion. It wasn't posed or practiced, it was genuine and resonated with the thoughts of "I'm here for you. Always." I'm not exactly happy go lucky, but I must admit that every time I look at this render and look into those eyes I crack a smile, even if I don't want to.
