I'm always impressed by your mastery in rendering so many human experiences and conditions. Particularly fond here of the metaphor of her exposed face as a stony beach: captures so much meaning, with such efficient economy. I quite like the quietly sinister notion of memories perfidiously keeping secrets from themselves too. I mean, when you can't even trust your own memories...
Excellent work. Hats off to you!

Thank you Jamie. The idea of dementia underlies the memory image.

Memories keeping secrets from themselves: I think I've experienced something like that.

Thank you.
I didn't include the image, because the earlier poem wasn't written as a commentary. In the new poem, the reference to Guille's image is less relevant (I think)

As a commentary (or no longer one), I can see where you're coming from. Personally, I think the photo would still add something, but that's for you to determine. With or without the photo, it's a beautiful piece.

'Keeping secrets from itself'... I love the way you phrased this haiku. It says volumes, and I get the feeling that it will linger in my mind for some time... A sad, beautiful truth of a poem.

It's only half a poem so far. Sekoda has two stanzas, 5-7-7.
I'll see if I can finish it!

Thank you.
Memory is an enigmatic component of identity, known to degrade with age!
And yet the past might well become more compelling, as one might sift ashes to understand the cause of a blaze.

In adolescence, we do infact have a distant past, on the other side of the hormonal barrier, so memory is needed to create a new collage of identity.
"We've got to get ourseives back to the Garden" as a song from Woodstock has it.
