Description Alright then, since we are on Mother's Day and to commemorate this day, I decided to make a drawing for my mother for Mother's Day, since she is a very important person for me, because she has guided me and accompanied me throughout my life, in good times and in bad times, and because of her and her teachings, I am the person I am today and I thank my mother for many things and although I know that she has scolded me and reprimanded me for things I may not agreed with her because I have my own beliefs, I know that my mother does it because she cares about me and only thinks about giving me the best and because she wants me to be happy in my life and to achieve my own goals and dreams. So, I decided to make this drawing for my mom of one of the my favorite mothers, who in this animated film has shown that her fear cannot stop her from achieving what she sets out to do and because she puts her children first before herself and even though she is in danger many times, she keeps going because of the love she has for her family and I saw this movie a couple of times in my childhood, but since then, I have considered her one of the best mothers in animation. I'm talking, of course, about Mrs. Brisby, the mouse protagonist, mother of four children and whose motivation is to move her house to a safe place with her children inside of it and one of them, being seriously ill. This movie I'm talking about is called: “The Secret Of Nimh”, directed by Don Bluth, written by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman, based on the book by Robert C. O’Brien titled “Mrs. Frisby And The Rats Of Nimh”, produced by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman, music composed by Jerry Goldsmith and released in 1982.
The story is about a little country mouse named Mrs. Brisby (Elizabeth Hartman), who lost her husband named Jonathan and lives alone with her four children being a single mother, although Auntie Shrew (Hermione Baddeley) helps her take care of her children while she is away. Mrs. Brisby's main objective is to move her house, which is a cement block that is located in the middle of a farm field and her main idea was to move herself and her children to a safe place before the farmer starts to pass the tractor through that area destroying everything in its path, so Mrs. Brisby must act quickly to move her house and find a safe place for her family, since she cannot expose her son Timothy, who is sick of pneumonia. So Mrs. Brisby decides to visit Mr. Ages (Arthur Malet), a grumpy and elderly mouse, but who is kind to her, who gives her some medicine for Timothy to give him and on her way home, Mrs. Brisby frees a crow named Jeremy (Dom DeLuise) that had fallen into a trap and the two escape from the farmer's cat named Dragon and when Mrs. Brisby returns home, she gives Timothy his medicine, but the next day, the farmer is about to plow the land with the tractor, but thanks to the intervention of Auntie Shrew, who manages to disable the tractor, Mrs. Brisby decides to do something to save her children and Jeremy advises her to visit The Great Owl (John Carradine) and even though she is afraid, she goes to see the great owl and because of the background that her husband had, the owl advises her to visit the rats of NIMH, since they are very intelligent and could have the solution to move her house, so Mrs. Brisby accompanied by Mr. Ages go to visit the rats of NIMH, where they meet the wise Nicodemus (Derek Jacobi), who is the leader of the rats, very wise and who gives Mrs. Brisby a red stone in gratitude for what her husband had done for the rats in the past; Justin (Peter Strauss) who is the captain of the guard who is very brave and fair in his job and loyal to Nicodemus and so, the rats reach an agreement to move Mrs. Brisby's house to a safe place, but the evil Jenner (Paul Shenar) plans to get rid of Nicodemus to become the leader of the rats so together with his partner Sullivan (Aldo Ray) they plan to sabotage the operation of moving the Brisby house to kill Nicodemus.
So in order for the rats to move Mrs. Brisby's house, they need to drug Dragon the cat so he can do it safely. Only Mrs. Brisby can do this, since the rats cannot pass through the hole that leads to the house; Jonathan was killed by Dragon in a previous attempt, while Ages broke his leg in another. That night, clearly terrified, she puts the drug on Dragon's plate, but the Fitzgibbons' son, Billy, catches her. While she is trapped in a cage, she overhears a telephone conversation between farmer Fitzgibbons and the NIMH staff and discovers that the institute intends to exterminate the rats in the morning. Brisby then escapes the cage and runs off to warn them.
As a storm approaches, the rats begin moving the Brisby house, with the children and Auntie Shrew inside, using a system of ropes and pulleys. Ignoring Sullivan's protests, Jenner soon sabotages the assembly, causing it to fall apart and crush Nicodemus to death. Mrs. Brisby soon arrives to warn the rats about NIMH's arrival, but Jenner attacks her and attempts to steal the amulet while Sullivan alerts Justin, who comes to Brisby's aid. Jenner mortally wounds Sullivan and engages Justin in a sword fight that ends with him being killed by a dagger in the back thrown by the dying Sullivan.
Brisby's house suddenly begins to sink into the muddy ground she landed on and Brisby and the rats are unable to lift it up. All seems lost until Brisby's will to save her family empowers the amulet, which she uses to lift the house to safety. The next day, the rats, with Justin as their new leader, set out for Thorn Valley as Timothy begins to recover. Then, Jeremy meets and falls in love with a female crow who is just as clumsy as he is.
I admit that this Don Bluth movie is one of my favorites, since I remember that it was shown numerous times on Cartoon Network and the truth is, I always admired Mrs. Brisby's courage since many times, she put her life at risk to save her sick son and it was quite clear that she was always afraid whether facing the cat or visiting the great owl, but despite her size and despite not having great strength, Mrs. Brisby did not let fear invade her and she always got ahead even though her fear was very great, but her desire to save her children managed to give her determination and make her son Timothy recover and her courage is worthy of admiration, because a mother will always do whatever it takes so that their children are well regardless of how they are and for this reason, I decided to make this drawing for my mother of Mrs. Brisby with her four children, since the love that she has for her children is so great and that nothing it is going to prevent her from saving her children and I consider her to be one of the best mothers I have seen in animation since her only motivation is to save her family and move her house to a safe place. Without anything else to say, Happy Mother’s day! 💐🌷🌹🪻🪷🌺🌸🌼🌻🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
