Description The death of Kim Jong Un from a heart attack in March of 2026 unleashed a series of events few could have anticipated. With his older brother dead and his younger brother avowedly apolitical, the party selectorate was faced with an unclear choice between the great leader's younger sister or his seventeen-year-old son. The sister Kim, Kim Yo-jong, had far stronger connection with the party and military elite than her sheltered nephew, and hence was unanimously elected Chairman. Fearful that Yo-jong would swiftly execute any competitors for the throne, Jong-un's window, Ri Sol-ju, gathered generals and ministers hostile to Yo-jong in order to attempt a coup. On the seventh of July, the Ri Clique seized control of western garrisons and prepared to march on Pyongyang, beginning the War of North Korean Succession.

The Yo-jong regime moved against the rebels, and the Chinese also sent forces to suppress the disorder. Despite other generals joining the Ri Clique, they lacked the means to resist the Chinese. In desperation, Ri publicly requested aid from South Korea and United States, promising liberalization and unification if she an her supporters prevailed. After tense debate, the American and South Korean presidents launched and invasion of the North. The vast but ilequipped PLA put up a fight, but ultimately proved incapable of resisting the American and South Korean militaries. After the months of hard fighting across the poverty-wracked country-side of North Korea culminating in the Christmas Offensive, Chinese forces were scattered and Yo-jong surrendered after being surrounded in Pyongyang, ending the war. The next year, North Korea officially accepting integration under the government of the South, officially ending Korea's seventy-six-year civil war.

There is not going to be a war on North Korean succession. It is either going to be Kim Yo Jong or it is going to be one of her uncles
