The storm clouds fluttered above the cathedral, bearing the heavy colors of dying winter, refracting off the cathedral's heavy green dome.----------------------------------
For some odd reason, all access to this marvelous structure is rather restricted and privatized.

Beautiful building, I must say. Reminds me of the Capitol Building from the U.S. mixed with the house that the Von Trappe family lived in from "The Sound of Music"

So this is a cathedral? Odd, it seems to have none of the traditional features of a cathedral. It reminds me more of a government building or a college. Where is this anyway?

The Catholic Church borrowed a lot of valuable tools from the Romans & they've had two thousand years to hone their skills in the art of protection & secrecy. Hidden amongst a vast empire of Real Estate are several hundred facilities (just in the United States alone) where the level of access & security is high. Many are virtually invisible & unknown except to insiders. Often the level of protection or secrecy is a direct result of measures taken to provide anonimity and safety to either the residents who live & work there or to protect the antiquities that reside there. Sometimes it is simply because the facility itself is an antiquity or is historically important. As to security, none can compare to the levels implemented in & around Vatican City. Security there is "extremely high" - "sophisticated" & "intimidating". Not only is it home to the Pope & many other Catholic dignitaries, but it is also the largest museum of priceless artifacts in the world. There must be some "one" or some "thing" at this Cathedral valuable enough to merit security & protection.

A cross doesn't make a cathedral. Could be a seminary, at a pinch, or a college. But it looks more like the Admiralty building on Horseguards parade or the Royal Naval acadamy at Dartmouth than any house of prayer. A cathedral has an aisle and a nave and trancepts, not floors and rooms.

I think that might actually be a private catholic school. At least that's what it sort of looks like. I don't really understand how the sky is two shades of color... but that's actually quite neat looking.

The building reminds me more of an old (psychiatric) hospital, with that the secrecy can become even worse I think
