Scarlet has been thinking the last few weeks about leaving the herd's valley with Quicksilver, once he sets out on his next journey.
She discussed her ideas with her friend, raven Marrakesh. He told her that if she decides to go, he wouldn't mind accompanying her, as he hasn't really left the valley for years and felt like spreading his wings over unknown places wouldn't hurt. Scarlet then reached out to Quicksilver, who suggested to do a little test, as he was curious whether Scarlet is able to leave the valley with him. Scarlet agreed with this "test", whatever that meant, and then they waited for the new moon when the night was the darkest. When that day came and evening fell, he asked her to follow him into the thick woods at the valley's south end.
He knew well that there is nothing dangerous there, but he also knew that the herd didn't visit this far end of the valley in recent months, and didn't really go there in general, so the place was somewhat foreign to Scarlet. In short: an ideal place to see how Scarlet behaves in unknown situations, without the herd behind her back.
And truth to be told, he was quite amused when he saw how Scarlet cautiously tip-toed in the exact centre of the path.
