I'M CAUGHT UP! Whoo-hoo! Also, I think you meant that "having friends is cheaper." I have a feeling Kaiba's going to put his foot in his mouth before this "date" of theirs is over.
Okay, so being as caught up as I can be at the moment, I can babble for a bit:
1 - My absolute favorite rom-com is "You've Got Mail," and while it's a bit dated nowadays, it does fit well into the Yu-Gi-Oh timeline. I like that you've updated it somewhat to reflect laptops and the like--but thank god for the lack of the AOL "You've Got Mail!" voice. That's so... weird...
2 - It's nice not having them be business rivals. The movie takes the idea of two people who seem like enemies and turning them first into friends and then into unexpected lovers, and Kaiba and Anzu work very well for that--with some necessary, welcome changes. I was surprised, for example, that the "first date" got turned into a "ball" of sorts, and one that TΓ©a's friends were at. Plus, Seto found out not through a friend that he had as a wingman (because let's face it, Mokuba peering inside and realizing that the girl he was waiting for was TΓ©a wouldn't work at all, especially since Kaiba hid HIS rose and didn't ask her to wear/have anything identifiable).
3 - You kept some of the lines from the movie (when part 2 started), but I don't think "Shopgirl's" lines would be the same tone that "Dancegirl" would use. So I encourage you to continue deviating from the movie script in as much as original lines in the emails, even if you keep the concept the same , with Kaiba getting to know TΓ©a better through email, and her eventually finding out after she falls for him...but instead of being upset, being really happy.
4 - I'm nervous about Serenity liking Seto, though. In the movie, Tom Hanks' character had a girlfriend, just as Meg Ryan's had a boyfriend, but they didn't realize how they weren't really "meant to be" until later on. Introducing Serenity as a love interest would be awkward and I think unnecessary... it's not like Seto will need to suddenly go live on a house boat after all!Β
5 - You'll get some extra story out of the plot twist that TΓ©a loved Atem, that everyone knows it, and that Joey would never stand for TΓ©a and Seto dating. The irony is that I see which character from the movie he's playing, and if you kept up the parallels, Joey would eventually work for Kaiba!?!?!?

You'll see later why I added Serenity in the plot. This is a thing I added to this story. It's perhaps not necessary like you said but I wanted it that way
