The weight of the world has covered me
I'm in over my head
Am I living or dead
Can anyone hear me calling out
I'm calling out"

Buried Beneath - RED

Trade with ! Featuring her red deer character Yeva as apart of her story Woundbearer.

Brief backstory on the character without spoils but to give context - Yeva lost her fawn to a particular predator and is now bent on seeking "revenge", going lengths to travel and find him, despite the dangers. And stuff.

I drew Yeva already in an older doodle, but I wanted to draw her again because I felt like it. Then everything went crazy. Could have put some more work into the far BG, mostly adding some more growth, but overall I'm content with it, especially the foreground. I tried a more "rough" and "loose" approach, trying not to focus on the hardened details and just going smoothly. I actually really like how it came out - more than some of my refined approaches.

In hindsight Ah ha ha hind I should have switched the position of her front legs and have her walking via holding up the injured leg buuuut alas!

Enjoy

While Yeva is out hunting for that predator, she should go out and take her rage on the hospital workers who refused to give treatment to that other injured deer

(Sorry for such a late reply!)

Aha, I can only imagine Yeva going into a hospital! I think deputies would have a tough time getting her out on their terms.

:icoiloveyouplz: It's so beautiful. I dig the idea too; it especially makes it ironic considering that her companion later on is a wood spirit. I'd love to see her actually go back and find the spot her fawn died in, if she wasn't on the other end of the country by now. Yeva looks so ragged and worn down, I love it.

I hope to have your half completed within the week

Yaaay

That too is quite ironic! I also just noticed a little while ago that there is a similar tree directly behind Yeva that makes a strange tangency that almost looks like she, too, has a "grave marker" on herself. Deep and meaningful stuff man. Mmhmm.

But yes I am quite glad you enjoy it! It was much fun. And I like to draw deer. Deer-thing trade!
I look forward to it~ Do take your time, though.

Actually, standing on the injured leg might make sense, fir there is a greater injury before her that would make her ignore that pain...

This is awesome! :0 And the band RED is epic. I love their music. You did a great job on the deer C: Deer anatomy is hard in my opinion, but they may partly be due to the fact I don't draw deer often enough.

Thank you! Ahhh I love drawing deer and deer-things. I used to adore all kinds of deer when I was younger and drew them all the time, so it's almost like going back to my younger days. I don't struggle much with them at all, aside from their noses sometimes. I know they don't have dog-noses like a lot of people draw them but the way I draw noses can be hit or miss and the way I draw them can look dog like by mistake. Ugh!

And RED yes <3 They are my favorite band!

You are very welcome.

Haha that would help. I'm trying to get better at deer anatomy myself, for a project I'm working on. the main thing I'm trying to accomplish is keeping them from looking like dogs (lol). I'm also trying to draw bucks with and without antlers, because apparently that is another thing people always do; drawing bucks with antlers regardless of what time of year it is.

They are one of my favorite bands :3

I always notice people can't draw deer at all. They always add far too much fur so they look like a wolf, they can't get the leg shape at all right, they give them dog noses, and, worst of all, they think all deer look the same. I get so peeved when I see just a "deer". Deer? Okay? Whitetail, mule deer, axis, fallow, red deer, elk, moose, caribou, sitka, blacktail, what?? Just "deer" is annoying as heck to me. Especially considering all the beautiful antlers deer can have! But people just draw the generic cartoon reindeer antlers on them, which look nothing like real antlers. It riles me up!

Me too! 8D Have you ever seen them in concert? They are radical.

Totally. There is actually a type of deer that does look sort of like a goat and wolf had a baby (lol). But yes, I am trying to not make the same mistakes. All of my characters are white tailed deer. Something people seem to no know is the white tailed deer come in more colors than they think. The main character is a piebald white tailed deer. I think that coloration is just so cool and certainly unique.

No I have not! I would like to though.

Oh goodness I wanna see this now pfff I know Muntjacs are the ones that have tusks! Those are adorable. I think Pere's David Deer are about the closest antler-type to the generic "deer" people draw because they look like they have freakin tree branches on their heads!

Awww piebald <3 I like Melanistic deer too. Black deer! Opposite albinism!

I love Musk deer, especially Siberian Musk Deer. They have Kangaroo faces and fangs. :U

I'm not sure I've seen Pere's David Deer before :0 But yes I can see how those are the closest thing to the 'generic' deer antlers.

I know right. Its the oddballs I love the most! Individualism for the win!
