Is that Castilene by any coincidence a two-components modelling compound, and is it combarable to whatΒ΄s also known as green stuff amongst miniature builders,or to Miliput?

And what were the reasons you used it and for those parts? Is it lighter than Super Sculpey? Or does it have other certain qualities that made it more suitable for those parts, for they look like they were sculpted in the same way...

Anyhow that is a great piece, and maybe I even might get me one whenever I have some spare money and there is still one available,I somehow always wondered wether Tengu had something to do with actual Japanese mythology back when one appeared in Dead or Alive II.
So thanks for the teaching and for fueling my interest in that field!

Sorry for the late reply, lots of work these days. Thanks for the kind words.

Castilene is a light wax material, used primarily in the toy industry. It's not as hard as 'the green stuff', but considerably harder and lighter than sculpey. I use it mostly for accessories or structures like wings, capes etc where I can't use an armature.

The hair flowing back is awesome, just as is everything else about it. I love that he's on a real piece of wood!

That may well be the case, not sure though.

Super sculpey AND castilene? How did you integrate those two?

The greenish bits (ie. wings and drinking gourd)are castilene and the rest of the Tengu is SS. The entire piece will be cast into a polymer resin, so they are only integrated in a very peripheral and temporary way. Sculpting the wings in Super Sculpey would have been a headache.

I have to echo what Dave said, it is really excellent in every angle. I'll fave it twice (I mean, Forest Tengu 2 and this one).

The base was really an inspired choice, because it drives home the forest spirit theme. Excellent from every angle!!

Thanks. Yeah I had the whole composition in my head and when I found that branch it just solidified it.
