This is awesome! I like how it looks like her dress is soaked with blood, and those ghoul things in the background are just...amazing.

I'm not sure if it is more important that the artist was portraying some emotion or that it inspires some emotion in the viewer. Though artistically simplistic it is one cool biproduct.

Awesome picture. For some reason I really like the idea of the angel of death being personified as a woman (as I have embodied my character) rather than a man in a cloak with a skeletal exterior. I really think that you managed to capture my vision of Death quite apt.
Overall, this is a beautiful picture. I'm a freak for red textures so I love the red in this picture; it really stands out. Her dress kind of confuses me a little just because it looks like it's a part of her body but at the same time you can clearly tell it's a dress judging by the way it flails out. I'm not sure. Maybe that was intentional. I'll give you artistic credibility for it anyway.
I have to say that I really love it regardless. I think I'd be more interesting if you had somehow made the wings larger and draping over the dead souls kind of like a covet, but it's a little late to be making suggestions now.
Anyhow--this is an amazing picture. I love the concept and I think that this is very much favorite worthy. Amazing work that I think I would like to see more of.

This reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe. It suits his work perfectly.
Beautiful work you've done. I love the color and the darkness to it.

You know, despite the fact that the angel is supposed to be the central figure of this piece, I find myself drawn to the eyeless, vapid beings left in her wake. Reminds me of the Dia de la Muerte masks from Mexico... very haunting.

I don't think I've ever heard of these masks, are they symbolic of something? And what does that translate to?

They're skull masks (usually simplified to their most basic shapes) worn for the Mexican ceremonial holiday called Dia de la Muerte (at least in the feminine dialect). It celebrates the lives and spirits of those who've passed, and as opposed to a day of mourning, it's a day of celebration.

Hey, no problem. Although I bet someone from Mexico could probably give you a better idea of what it's like. :snicker:

Beautiful. I love the colors, texture, shading, the face of innocence on an angel of death. It gives the me feeling that death is innocent because it can take anyone regardless of background. The only thing I could suggest is that the background should have had a little more ethereal spirits.

Yeah I thought it could use more spirits at first too. I didn't sketch out the spirits beforehand they just appeared while I was painting, but it looked like a winding trail of them behind her rather than just a group of them standing around so I decided to go with that.

Her dress is very beautiful. Reminds me of some of the stuff Dawn wears in the comic book, because of the tightness of it all... hmmm, yum.
