Description Or, "In Memory Of", which sounds slightly sillier as a title. Somehow, the theme of this piece shifted from meditation, to prayer, to that of memorial-- lighting a candle in broad daylight because there is something or someone that deserves to be remembered.

This piece has morphed so much from the original idea, it's a little mind-boggling! It was supposed to be my Thursday "experiment" piece, and the end of my "playing with horizontal places" stint. I ended up taking several of the more unsuccessful elements of my last pieces and tried one more time to make them work. Together. @__@ GRAGH. 30+ hours and three canvas expansions later , I ended up with something vastly more complex than what I had ever imagined. There are a wealth of discrepancies that I just couldn't fix by the end without gutting the whole thing, but they're definitely things I'll watch out for next time. Moral of the story: Plan more, eyeball less!

Many thanks to and for helping so much and making sure I stayed alive'n breathing during the making.

And another thank you to the lovely and her crit group for the most informative crit I've had to date. 'twas INTENSE.

On a side note, this weirdly seems like an extension piece to the Raised City I drew for school admissions. WEIRD.

The composition of this is ridiculously awesome. Seriously. I absolutely love the details of the stairs--I know that it's just a silly little part of the piece, but they look so clean cut and amazingly intricate. I love that tree, too. I want to sit underneath it. The atmosphere is so calm and peaceful!

Thanks so much, dude. I actually really struggled with the composition to make it work, since I didn't plan it right at the beginning. Also, those stairs were repainted five times by the end, so it warms my heart to hear that you noticed and like them.

Did that crit group tell you to scrap the floatingness?

Nopenope, but I needed something to draw attention to the middle/over to the right. Mr. Floating man was too static, in my opinion. XD

A crit group, you say? That's such a good idea!

Thank yousss.

Yepyep! It just got off the ground though, so everything's pretty tentative. We'll see how it goes. @___@;;
