Some sketches of an idea that popped into my head while working on my Mars related pieces. I’m not sure if I’m going to include these in my Centauri universe but it was fun to explore. I call these three species the “Uplifted”; genetic animal hybrids created to have human level sapience.

The first one on the left is what I call the “Great Ape”. It is a genetic combination of all the great ape species, including humans to allow greater cranium capacity and easier bipedalism. Being apes, they are the most relatable to humans though they are significantly stronger and comfortable in the trees as well as on the ground.

In the middle is a “Parovid”, a hybrid between Parrots and Corvids. They are remarkable linguists and can use their beaks and feet to manipulate objects. They even remain airborne to free up both feet for better use.

Lastly is a “Dolphopod”. The most radical hybrid, it is a combination between dolphins and various cephalopods. Their bodies mostly resemble dolphins except having softer skin that allows a degree color and texture change, cephalopod eyes with better vision, and most notably tentacles around their mouths which can manipulate their environment and gather additional information thank’s to the unique neurology within said tentacles.

Might expand on these guys more if I feel like it. It was still fun working on them.
