Description
This started out as a sketch for a contest, but it rather quickly became its own entity. I'd like to be able to do the painterly style, but I really struggle with it and find it frustrating, so this is a rare occasion that I actually finished one. I don't like the face.

I think this looks very nice!! The only advice I guess I could give is that owls have kind of flat-ish faces, so that could be why you don't like it? I'm not that good on critiques though.. All I can really say is that I like it <3

Thank you! XD You may be right... though the reference I used had a rather round face. Owl faces just don't translate well to drawings I guess. Not for me anyways. XD

I really like the atmosphere in this! And the square composition! I would recommend maybe darkening the shadow mass where the light doesn't hit for a little more dimension...? Not 100% sure how that would come out, but it's really lovely as is.
