Description Lets see how many people recognize this guy.

This is an old character (ex-neopet, actually) of mine, who was my absolute favorite until I started neglecting him. I haven't drawn him in years, so I thought it would be nice to give him a more realistic make-over. Extreme make-over, if you will.

He is an Asiatic dragon-hippocampus hybrid, geneticaly created ina test tube and grown with love in a petri dish. Until he was implanted in a foster uterus of some sort, of course. I have a slight fascination with hybrid animals, to tell you the truth.

It was tricky trying to combine the two in a somewhat natural looking creature. I tried to change him from the hippocampus with dragon wings thing, to make him more realistic. I am super in love with his new design, I absolutely love it, personaly.

And he's single again ;D in case anyone else's mutant hybrid creatures are lonely.

Very unique and different than the old design entirely. I like it and remember him well. Zidaar morphed on me too into a centaur after leaving neopets. Ahhh how they grow up don't they...Lovely character that Ellie

Thank you. Yea, it was time to give him an update and mature him a little. He looked too simple - a peophin with wings and whiskers. But I liked him too much to just abandon him altogether, so I played with his look.

Zidaar's a centaur? That's a drastic change I loved the idea of a water horse too much to get rid of it.

I guess because of my water ixi, Overfloww, I wasn't too attached to the idea. Plus Zidaar had to fly everywhere and really didn't seem to ever fit with the entire water thing for the personality that he ended up having. Although, more of a seahorse approach to a character could be cool for me.

Of course I'll draw him more He's one of my favorite characters of all time, but I couldn't fix his look to something neater until just now, so I didn't draw him at all. He used to be a Neopet, so it was a mix of the peophin and the draik (although I really came up with him drawing a peophin with big dragon wings and aquatic dragon facial features) but now I went more for the asian dragon look, with the hair and such.

You're welcome to make him a test tube brother/sister if you want. Someone else is already doing it XD Especially because you have a lot of freedom to choose which traits of which parent to use, so you could add scales or hind legs, or whatever you want ^^

oh hes gorgeous you must draw him again! or more like him. A few of my beloved characters were test-tube critters. most I havent spoken about as they will be in my novel series im writting. but safe to say they be tank-grown thinggers. also working on a script for a horror film based on an alternative story idea using same critters.

I'm deffinately going to draw a lot more of him, and maybe a few characters based off of the mix. The great thing about a crazy mix like this is that each individual, if left to a "natural" process of random genetic traits, can look totally different. So I'm going to play with that a bit, see what traits I can give others that are more dragon or something.

Oh wow, you're going to do an actual painting? I can't paint with paint to save my life. Watercolors, I'm good with, but oils or acrylics... not so much. I can't wait to see the final product!

Yup - this one is going to be acrylic! I don't own my own set of oils yet so, as of now it's not an option. I can't wait to see it either! I have a feeling it's going to be an improvement from things I've done before. I've learned a few things since my last painting.

It is a very weird combination, but that's what makes him really different (and why I love him so much). I don't remember why I came up with him in the first place so many years ago, it's a hard combination to come up with.

I based the tail off of the coelacanth, but instead of having the fins I continued the hair idea and replaced the fins with hair.
