The wind blew through the leaves, rippling the bright blossoms. This was the one place where she was to be left alone. No urgent orders of business, no sudden catastrophes, and none of the intrigue associated with court were allowed to enter here. She sunk down with a sigh on the one bench in the garden. Today, everything just seemed too much.

She didn’t know what was significant about today, he thought. She doesn’t realize that today is the anniversary of that day, the day that darkness ended. But even in a world of light, darkness still existed in the shadow of one’s heart. Today, the shadows always seemed the darkest, as if Ganon was trying more than ever to break free of those bonds holding him back. But Link knew that Zelda had forgotten what today meant, but she was still feeling the effects of that darkness.

“Zelda?”

She didn’t look up, “Link, what is it?”

“You just look so lost.”

Standing, she looked up into his eyes. She whispered, “Can we, for this one day, forget? Can we forget about the world and what it tries—”

He interrupted, “Zelda, no, we can’t. Not today, not on the anniversary of the day we sealed Ganondorf away. This pain will not go away, but we need to embrace it. For without it,” he swallowed audibly before continuing, “without it we wouldn’t both be here, together.”

She gave a soft smile, “As long as you’re here, as long as you never leave, then it would be worth it.”

“For you, anything.”

So some obvious Ocarina of Time influences here, but I took some liberties with Zelda's tiara/headpiece.
