Description So I decided to go ahead and make a tutorial! It's not done yet, I will be sure to keep on working on this to give you the next part of this tutorial to see how I do things.

Just remember - this is how I do things, not what is necessarily wrong or right. If you don't agree with my methods, no harm done, find what works for you!

I hope what I have posted so far kind of helps. >_>

I like how you added photos of yourself during this, they really add a lot to the tutorial design wise :3

ILU for the "I know taking measurements can be depressing, but you really have to make sure you don't lie to yourself". Too many people do that, then complain about the seamstress/tailor/company when the final outfit doesn't fit.

Great tute on how to design! <3 LOVE IT.

Ugghgh yes. I worked for a designer over the summer and I can't tell you how many people bitched because it was "too small" ... then dont lie about your measurements!!!!

Thanks! Its super old and probably really inaccurate (esp compared to how I sew now...) But people seem to like it so if it works for them, why not? ^o^;;

Okay.. A few days ago, I couldn't even imagine this. I'm actually reading a sewing tutorial. I just suddenly had that strange feeling that I need to make something awesome.. but simply drawing won't do, cause I need some new stuff to wear.. And I'm sick of wearing cheap clothes bought at a Chinese market.. I want something unique.. So I decided to make some Oshare Kei stuff.. And well.. I'm not that great at sewing.. So I needed a tutorial.. And to be honest, I think this one will be great for start.. ^^ I'll practice a little and then hopefully I can start with the real stuff.. ^^ Thank you for this tut!

aawesooome a sewing tutorial I LOVE YOU <3 i allready know some things that are listed there like measuring buit maybe you can teach me how to do the actual...cuts and so xD iΒ΄m always clueless with that :0i really look foreward to more >w< thanks soo much for doing that 8D

Aww! Thanks !

I think i'll include that in the 2nd one. @o@; If there is ever a piece of clothing you're trying to make however (Like a shirt or a dress) It's actually really easy to figure it out. Sometimes I cut up old shirts just to see the shape / what the pattern is. Or just looking at the seams on garments can help you figure out what shapes you'll have to make.

Really all you're doing is figuring out the pieces of the puzzle - and the puzzle is your outfit.... if that makes sense. ^o^;

lol ok ^^ i allready saw will also show how to do ruffles and such? oo
i seriously don`t know how to do that xD~

well yeah i want to do the shirt of that pic i guess [link] and i will take the pattern from an old top i have
which means i will cut the top apart and use the pattern from it^^ a lot of people said they do that too and even people of big industries do that if they want to know which patterns other industries used XD and i get to know patterns better that way too, it`s easier xD

lol it actually does xD *laughs * i will try that surely too

allychan In reply to JollyGoodDay [2009-05-17 01:10:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, when people do that in the industry - they either like the silhouette.... or it could be a knock off.... x_x;

but its a good way to learn I think! XD;;;

I will upload a video of myself later showing you how to make ruffles / folds etc.
