Description Fun in the sun, extremely catchy music, a hippo who can't swim, a shark who strikes fear into the hearts of children, a hermit crab whose shell is ridiculously larger on the inside than it appeared to be, your first taste of flying, and the infamous sandcastle. It's all here in Treasure Trove Cove, the gateway to Stop 'n Swop!

Lately, I've been trying to figure out what Nipper might sound like. The closest I've gotten so far is Larry the Lobster's voice in a really low pitch.

I love this level. I loved teasing Snacker the Shark and the Sharpnels (mines). But I hate the Yum-Yums (clams) because they'd steal your eggs and feathers. I love listening to Leaky the bucket. I loved Snapper the hermit crab and loved fighting. I loved learning to fly to. I'd spend ages flying around the Treasure Trove Cove using up all my feathers then collecting more and flying around all over again.

I really love your drawings by the way.

Aww, thank you! I'm glad you like my drawings and that they're bringing up some good memories for you. I love talking about my favorite games and hearing other people's memories too!

I can't remember of seeing Captain Blubber with a sword, at least, not in BK and BT.

Anyways, nice sketch!

He actually has a little sword at his hip in the first two games But I think I was inspired by his Nuts & Bolts art: www.therwp.com/wiki/Blubber

"a shark who strikes fear into the hearts of children"

You are so right. Even in a video game that shark scared the bajeebus out of me.

Aaaah, the black and red Snippet--he thought he was so tough but it took so little to beat him! The sandcastle brings back tons of memories, especially those of SnS!

You're making me want to play again!

See, he never actually scared me, although I was scared of a bunch of even sillier stuff in games when I was a bit younger. Hmm, I should make a picture of all of my childhood game phobias... that would be amusing...

XD I was HORRIFIED of Bowser's laugh when I was four. I was even too scared to play Super Mario 64 because of it!

That would be fun. You're giving me inspiration.

Bowser's laugh scared me too! XD

Haha. Can't say Bowser has ever intimidated me (well, Giga Bowser's kinda freaky), but what scared me in SM64 was THAT EEL!!!

Hey, if you do it I'll do it. If I do it will you do it? In fact, I really like this idea.

KingGiantess In reply to Altermentality [2009-07-20 05:35:05 +0000 UTC]

OH MY GOD THE EEL. I remember him!! Gracious, even nowadays he's freaky.

If you do, I will. 8D I only have two childhood gamefears though, Bowser's laugh and the pit of doom in Rusty Bucket Bay. Quick tablet sketches maybe? :]

Treasure Trove Cove was possibly my favourite level. Great job with these - you're excellent at adapting the characters to this cute style.

Thank you! Yeah, there's just something special about TTC that makes it stand out... you could say it's the first "real" level, as MM is so easy as to be practically just an intro... plus there's Stop n Swop and flying!

CubieJ [2009-06-15 02:08:13 +0000 UTC]

Treasure Trove Cove was one of my least favourite levels because of that FREAKING SNACKER. He scared the bejebus outta me!

But it was also one of my favourites because of the music! : D And I also got a HUGE kick out of flying for the first time.

Blubber is very cute here. XD And that Yum Yum cracks me up.

Captain blubber kinda looks more like his Grunty's revenge self. Still all of them look awesome.

Altermentality In reply to glu-glu [2009-06-16 00:18:10 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I heard he was in GR. As a kid, I'd guess? Wait for it... wait for it... DAWWWWWWWW

Now that I have a DS, I can catch up on all those GBA games! I've heard that GR isn't really much to speak of, but as this big of a Banjo fan it's my interest and duty to play it. Don't know if I'll get Pilot though, maybe if I can find it cheap, so I can play as Jolly- I mean, fulfill my duty, that is.

glu-glu In reply to Altermentality [2009-06-16 00:42:18 +0000 UTC]

Pilot so far has been the banjo game i enjoyed the least (But i gotta say i loved the big "screw you" they put in it regarding stop n swop, a twistedly nice nod to the fans). Grunty's revenge is a very good banjo game for a GBA game. It feels a bit too short and you'll be dying a lot, but i really had fun with it.

Altermentality In reply to glu-glu [2009-06-16 19:35:44 +0000 UTC]

Alright, I trust you, and I'll definitely pick up GR if it's there next time I go to Gamestop. I've heard some people say it wasn't that great, but then again people complain about everything. I love Nuts & Bolts after all, not as much as the older games, but I believe in appreciating what you're given...

Oddly enough, you're right about Snacker striking fear in the hearts of children. When I first entered the level when I was younger, I absolutely stayed out of the coastal waters. And any of the pools that had the Shrapnels in then. they scared me, too. ._.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Altermentality In reply to DraggyTheDragon [2009-06-16 00:16:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I know I'm right. I've been around a Banjo forum or two long enough to learn that Snacker seriously freaked some people out when they were younger! I guess I was past that point by the time I played BK at age 10, because he didn't scare me, just annoyed me. I named the shark we dissected in biology this year Snacker as a dubious honor.

The Shrapnels, however, did creep me out. It's the way they just follow you, staring, clacking their jaws... *shudder*

(Can't wait for Gobi's Valley)

But...
Yay Captain Blubber! He's my favorite!
And I remember that shark. I didn't really like the fact that he kept on re-spawning.

Altermentality In reply to AleidyaT [2009-06-16 00:21:25 +0000 UTC]

Yay for the Cap'n! He's just so loveable. I was really quite sad that he didn't come by at the end of NB on some random vehicle and shout "WAHEY!"

Yes, the great omnipresent Snacker... he was everywhere, unable to be killed. Perhaps a god, sustained by the blood of mortals?

AleidyaT In reply to Altermentality [2009-06-16 01:23:20 +0000 UTC]

I know, how could they leave that out? They also didn't have Roysten get killed and ready to eat...
