[link]It's a very sweet concept, and I often see it depicted here at deviantArt. Usually, the thread seems to come from the heart rather than being tied around the ankles, but I kept to the myth here. It even works with the idea of the picture better. You're more likely to trip over something around your ankles than streaming from your chest.
Anyway, this is the picture that epitomizes this couple, for me. If you remember how I portray them - your only evidence, unfortunately, being an old fanfic that desperately needs finishing - I'm sure you will note the symbolism. Here we have affection that is, for a very long time, completely one-sided, and embarrassed and awkward and uncertain.
So you see, here O'Chunks is messing up romantic conventions again and proving his utter incompetence at being the sweet charming gentleman that Nastasia always wanted. While she doesn't even realize the thread is there, he is always tripping and getting himself tangled up in it.

I don't even support this pairing all that much (lawl I support another pairing with Nassie) but this is REALLY CUTE. CX LIKE REALLY CUTE.
Also, I've seen people use the red string on fingers and wrists as well. Can't say I've ever seen ankles! xD

Well, in real life I don't believe in it either, but it's definitely a reality in the world of Super Paper Mario, where ancient books have outlined the destinies of fated heroes and villains. And in that world, I imagine that the fates take care of their "used" players and wrap up their threads.

I really do love this couple though. And you portray it so well in this picture. Its true: Nastasia is most likely too concentrated on the Count to pay attention to O'Chunks' feelings. I doubt its because she's being a bitch, but just because her feelings for the Count were stronger D:'
Now that the game is done, and if they spawn a sequal----*crosses fingers >v<"* i would hope they might elaborate more on this couple~

One of the reasons for that, is people don't draw O'Chunks as much period; there's much less love for a big, uncouth warrior when the game is filled with so many cute characters who capture the general fandom's attention. Most people would rather draw a cute green girl or a little jester than a big hairy guy, that's just how it is. And as for pairings, people would rather focus on either a poignant, tragic love story or a cute romance than an awkward courtship by two people who initially may seem not to fit together very well.
Oh yes, of course. But like I said above, unless you mangle the canon, Nastasia CANNOT end up with Bleck, no matter how much she loved him. So is she going to live the rest of her life in sorrow? I don't think so. One of the lessons the game teaches at the end is hope and starting anew; making the "perfect world" the Count and his followers wanted without having to resort to destruction first. Nastasia herself says at the end that if she cannot learn to love again, she would not have been worthy of Blumiere in the first place. But she is, and she can.
O'Chunks' affections for Nastasia parallel Nastasia's for the Count, in that one was so caught up in love for someone (the count for Timpani, Nastasia for the count) they couldn't actually have that they spurned the advances, the healing offered, by someone who would truly love them in the here and now. Bleck had his problems solved for him, but it's a journey Nastasia will have to make on her own. And I think she can. She is, in my opinion, the most noble character in the game.

Indeed. If i practice a bit more drawing burly men, i will surely draw more Nastasia and O'Chunks -^^- But just because i can't draw one of the pairing's characters doesnt mean i like the pairing any less~

It's here in my account, if you go back a ways. It's called "Dinner and Discord." I really do mean to finish it some day, as it was only just starting to get into full swing. It's where I've poured all my thoughts about this couple. I'm really glad to hear you love the pairing because I do as well; not only is it cute or sweet, but interesting and unique. I would appreciate if you read the story, because when considering a couple it seems cheap, or sometimes just difficult, to just come out and say what I think, even if I've done loads of thinking about it; rather expressing things symbolically through a picture or story is a more ideal medium.
The feedback I've gotten on this picture may just be the incentive I need to start it up again

Oh, I can do Tippi. She's just basically a really nice person all the time, but is not perfect. She can get angry and even a bit judgmental at times (see: how she treats Francis).

Oh man, it's SO canon. He darn near admits it after you beat the game. And if you play the game with that in mind, there are all these little hints in what he says and how he acts. IT'S SO SWEET. SPM is really brilliant.
