It's hard to say which sketch is best, but i do find this angle most exciting!

This one is truly good, Pavel. Even if it's a rough sketch it could evolve into a GREAT drawing. Nice touch adding the shield of the Petulantes Seniores. And... Fair-haired Julian? I'd never know which one I prefer dark haired or fair, however since I read Gore Vidal I usually tend to imagine him like that, blond.

Thank you.No one mentions what unit shield it was on which Julianus was raised but it is clear that soldiers of Petulantes(at that moment division on senior and junior unit probably not existed yet)played the most active role in his proclamation and possibility that it might be indeed shild of Petulantes is also suggested by the known detail that it was member of Petulantes who gave Julianus his torque to serve him instead of real diadem which they lacked.
No author known to me is also sadly not mentioning what color his hair had.Originaly I imagined him with light brown hair and blond inffluence was introduced to me vie Ken Broeders comic series about Julianus.Also take a look here: www.despertaferro-ediciones.co…

I can't remember well what Ammianus told about the event, but he didn't mention the unit shield, I'm sure about that. However if Petulantes where indeed with him at Lutetia it would be reasonable that they raised them. More so if one of them gave him the would-be crown.
I imagine him either dark haired like Constantine or sandy brown/fair haired, don't know why but I prefer the second option.
That cover is fantastic! Has been released? Julianus is an all-times favorite of mine, I'd purchase it immediately!
