This drawing shows the Romans, led by Publius Quinctilius Varus, getting their arses handed to them by a coalition of Germanic tribes under the chieftain Arminius during the battle of the Teutoburg forest in 9 A. D.Proportions are wrong, I know -- more specifically, either the tribesman with the axe is a midget or the kneeling legionary is a giant. I'm not sure which.
As always, some details were lost in the scan, but nothing too bad.

# Roman legions wiped out by Germanic tribesmen under Arminius, a Roman trained auxilia commander. Just an embarrassing defeat. Thankfully Germanicus went back in and recovered 2 of the 3 Standards.

I'm not sure, I've never really paid attention to the time when drawing. A few hours is the most precise answer I can give, I suppose.
