Description Here's the first comic for chapter 3 of FE: Dawn of Darkness!

There was some suspense in the last comic, now there's a little humor in this one. Haha.

Anyway, after arriving in another mountain town, Ranulf and Elincia tease Ike a little because he seems to have a hard head, yet anyone that knows him well knows that he's a pretty open-minded guy. Ike isn't amused though, lol.

Also, the incident Ike is talking about here is from a short story I wrote called Ashes of War. It's found on my fanfiction.net account.

Oh, and since there's a bunch of comics in this series so far, I'm going to put up a chronological index so everyone knows which comic happens when. There will probably be times that I make them out of order for various reasons (such as a lack of the correct mugshots or battle sprites).

EDIT: Upon a suggestion from , I've added four more panels to this comic.

Hey there, sorry for the delay. Anyhow, I'm glad my suggestion was put to good use. I really like the reference to AoW, since it helps to alleviate the tension of the previous comics and shows that the wounds between Ike and Elincia are already mending. One thing I'm wondering, you know how Ike segways into that story about getting bashed by Boyd? Wouldn't it make sense for Ike to be smiling a bit at recalling what happened later between him and Elincia? I see that his expression did shift, but I personally think it ought to happen sooner. I'm also wondering if changing Elincia's expression in the last row of columns might be good. I kinda wish there could be a snickering expression with these sprites but, on the other hand, it might also work if she glared at Ranulf in that don't-you-tease-my-Ike-like-that fashion. Those are just my opinions though. On a different note, the background looks excellent. I'm not sure I recognize it though. Where is it from? Please let me know, and thanks for both telling me about this and making good use of my suggestions. Catch you later.

Ah, no problem! And really, I just couldn't imagine Ike smiling until he said "Indeed."

As for the background, I thought you wouldn't recognize it. It's from FE6, which you told me you haven't played. Some GBA conversation backgrounds only appear in that one.

Thanks a bunch, Falchion and you're welcome.

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2012-11-08 17:45:19 +0000 UTC]

Well, difference of opinion, I suppose. And, I had a feeling that background was from FE6. I recall you mentioning that you aren't fond of emulators, but have you made an exception for that game? I myself have the rom but, with all this craziness, I haven't had the chance to make use of it. I HAVE, however, seen some very dawww-inducing fanart of Roy and Lilina though. Anyhow, as always, glad to be of service.

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2012-11-08 18:05:53 +0000 UTC]

Nah, I'm not that interested in FE6, honestly. Roy seems pretty boring and so does the plot. But I do agree that he and Lilina appear to be pretty cute together. At the same time though, it's a bit creepy, because they can also be first cousins (EliwoodxFiora and HectorxFlorina are both options for FE7 paired endings). o_O

Since I never use either pairings, I never had a problem with that. Don't forget HectorxFarina though. Not my pairing of choice, but they ARE funny.

I just think those two are so funny together, in a MarcxLeona sort of fashion. XD

I also like WilxRebecca and ErkxSerra (another funny duo lol). And you already know I like SainxFiora and have begun leaning towards DartxFarina.

If you haven't already, get Dart and Farina's supports. The last one will have you rolling on the floor laughing. On a side note, I also like Dart+Farina, Wil+Rebecca and Erk+Serra. I also like Jaffar+Nino, Kent+Fiora, Harken+Isadora, Pent+Louise and am amenable to Guy/Heath+Priscilla and don't mind Matthew+Serra (again, funny A support).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2012-11-09 02:30:28 +0000 UTC]

No, I haven't, cause I haven't played Hector's story yet and Farina only appears in that one. xP

Harken and Isadora seem cute, yeah! I did read their supports. It's so noble of Harken to keep his promise after all, you know?

Pent and Louise are already married and obsessed with each other, so there's really no reason to pair them with anyone else.

JaffarxNino, I have mixed feelings about. Nino making Jaffar realize that he has a personality after all and decide that he deeply cares for Nino is indeed cute and heartwarming, but at the same time, Jaffar seems to be several years older while Nino is like 14... Creepy. xP

Kent...I guess with me preferring his canon options with other men (Lyn with Hector, Fiora with Sain, Farina with Dart), the only logical choice I could give him is Florina. *shrugs*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2012-11-09 03:02:47 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure if anyone really states how old Jaffar is. At least a few fanfic authors have gauged him as being four years older than Nino, which isn't TOO creepy a gap. If you want creepy though, there's the Oswin+Serra pairing. Their ages are actually confirmed in the game. He's thirty, she's eighteen. Need I say more? I actually HAVE seen Kent paired up with Florina, but I kinda like pairing her up with Sain instead. Oh, the LOLness! Seriously though, there's this fic where Sain and Florina fall in love while trying to help each other to overcome their vices (that is, Florina being terrified of men and Sain coming across as a shameless and insincere flirt). It's a pretty good story, if you're interested.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2012-11-09 03:33:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, four years isn't bad. But twelve years between Oswin and Serra? Yeah, that's kinda creepy. xP

And yeah, Sain and Florina would be hilarious, haha.

But I just found Sain and Fiora to be too cute to pass up. Fiora passes on his advances the first few times, but Sain doesn't give up, of course. In their A support, Fiora says that being by his side "presents its own unique dangers." I like to think she means that it would put Sain in danger and she really cares a lot for him! How noble! ^^

Plus, I like both Sain and Fiora as characters. Also, if I pair Kent with Florina then, I've got the older knight with the older Pegasus sister, and the younger knight with the younger Pegasus sister (Sain reveals in his support with Kent that he is older). A classic and cute way to pair people, imo. Not to mention Sain and Kent would become family to one another, sorta, by marrying sisters.

And I think I've heard of the SainxFlorina fic you're talking about, but I'll read it some other time. I really want to get working on this AUC part and DoD chapter.

Sain is younger than Kent? That's a new one on me. It's easy to assume the opposite, since Kent is the more dutiful one. Thanks for the tidbit, and please keep me posted.

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2012-11-09 04:57:38 +0000 UTC]

OH, okay. lol

Also, speaking of Sain, I had this idea for later in the story I started about him, Kent, and Fiora. In his support with Rebecca in FE7, Sain says that it's his "curse" to be attracted to all beautiful women.

I thought, what if it really WAS a curse? See, I read this Zelda fic awhile back where Link had a curse placed upon him when he was a baby that caused every girl to fall for him and the only way he could break it was to win the heart of the girl he was meant to be with. He would know this girl when he met her because she would be the only one NOT to immediately fall for him. This girl was, of course, Zelda.

I thought, what if Sain was cursed as an infant too, only with the opposite problem, where he falls for every pretty girl he meets? He doesn't know it though. He just kind of jokingly refers to it as a curse. I decided that Sain's parents ended up getting involved with the wrong people, and as a result, a Sage cast a curse upon their infant son that would, at the age of 13, cause him to fall for every pretty female he met. The only way to break the curse would be to experience the feeling of true love and win the heart of the girl that was fated to be his soul mate. Sain's parents frantically searched for an alternate cure, but failed.

It would explain why Sain no longer felt such attraction to women upon winning Fiora's love. This is how I was beginning to write him, see. He still cares a lot for pretty girls, just not in THAT way anymore. Kent reveals this secret to Sain, and that Sain's parents had told him of it many years before, in hopes that Kent could help in some way. He was just afraid to tell Sain in fear that he would choose never to break the curse due to his enjoyment of flirting with women. Sain's parents didn't say anything because they were afraid of upsetting him and making him feel that they'd betrayed him.

Sounds like it has the makings of a humor story, given all the trouble Sain can get into this way. Though, perhaps the curse has some limitations, or Sain is not totally powerless against it, since he holds himself back (barely) from going after Louise? See this link for further details: [link] . One thing I'm wondering is if we should flesh out this affair that led to the curse. Who is this Sage? Was he, or she, one of the "wrong people" that Sain's parents got involved with? Why curse them in such a fashion, when he/she could simply killed the small family? I think it would make sense of the Sage had a particular and compelling reason to choose such a curse. But, that conversation will have to wait. Tomorrow's a work day, and I need to turn in early. Catch you later.

Yeah, I've see that support. I read all of Sain's possible supports to gain information that could be useful.

And yeah, I'll flesh out this affair. I don't really have many ideas yet though. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it though. For now, I want to finish AUC and then focus on DoD and TAP.

And okay, get some sleep then.

In fanfic circles, Sain is sometimes depicted as coming from a dysfunctional/broken family. Perhaps we can draw on that, with Sain's parents taking on some of the traits of the "wrong people," and Sain paying the price?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2012-11-09 23:52:11 +0000 UTC]

That sounds good. As long as these traits aren't real bad ones. I want Sain's parents to still have had good hearts. They just made mistakes that they really regret.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2012-11-10 01:35:23 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I was, in fact, thinking of bad traits. Like, for instance, the Sage casting the curse as punishment for Sain's parents trying to cheat or swindle him, for instance. Well, we can think of something else.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2012-11-10 02:02:27 +0000 UTC]

Oh, they can still be bad traits, just not really bad ones, like crime.

Well, on another note, I finished the outline for the next DoD chapter, so I should be able to get it started soon. I've also made a bit of progress on AUC part 4.

But things are getting busy here again, cause our kitchen floor is finally getting put in. The guys will come back tomorrow to keep working on it.
