Description Haha, wow. Here's a tip, guys: Never get Ike mad. lol

After the big tent collapses in the conflict, and Ike's sword winds up thrown near a cliff as a result, Ike is desperately trying to retrieve the blade. Only, the bandit leader keeps him busy (note that he doesn't have the shield icon because this is a cutscene) by throwing axes at him. In the story context, the bandit throws a bunch of axes, but here, we only see the last one being thrown. The cliff took a lot of abuse from Ike dodging those axes, and the heavy rock collapses on top of his sword, snapping it in two. Uh oh. XD (I'd actually like to add that 'NOW I'M REALLY PISSED OFF' line to the actual story context too lol)

(and yes, Ike does critical with half a sword...lol. But of course, being broken makes Ettard unable to be continuously relied on, so this is the only instance where Ike uses one of its halves in battle)

Hehe, yep, I couldn't resist having Ike get pissed off at these guys. XD

XDDDDDDD It would be unlike Ike if he didn't get upset

Yeah, his favorite sword got broken!Β  And it's the only memento he has left of his dad.Β  I actually agree with the widely believed theory that Ettard once belonged to Greil.

Mmm. I never heard that "talk" before about Ettard, but it isn't too far of a stretch. Ettard is an awesome blade.

Damn, I forgot to hit the Add Comment button. Anyhow, let me retype this before I have to get to bed. This is pretty good. I really like the way you handled the sprite of Ike holding an axe. It looks like you modified it from the Berserker sprites used by Dart/Dozla/Garcia/Ross. Maybe you could have Ike use a modified version of their critical attack animation as well? Just a thought. I was also curious about how you'd handle the sprite of the broken Ettard. I could've sworn Ike threw it instead of slashing with it, but I must've been mistaken. The build-up, and Ike's pissed-offedness, is also an excellent touch, as it generates anticipation. Somebody ought to add Ike to some sort of World's Most Dangerous Predator's list. One thing I'm wondering, you know that text window that appears when a weapon is broken? Why not use it here, when the boulder falls on Ettard? It looks like it would fit nicely into the top-right frame. But, I'll let you make that call. I'll have to get to bed soon, since I have work tomorrow. As always, nice work. Okay Add Comment, you're not getting away a second time...

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-01 07:04:24 +0000 UTC]

Yup, I modified the axe in the Berserker sprite. I thought it was perfect to use for Ike. :3

And I don't recall Ike ever throwing either half of Ettard, so I just tossed in the slash animation.

Using that window that appears when a weapon breaks isn't a bad idea, except that the reader isn't supposed to know right away that Ettard broke. When Ike gets angry and yells "NO!" that's when the reader should figure it out. lol

And yeah, Ike is quite dangerous when he's angry. Hehe. Anyway, thanks a bunch, Falchion! ^^

Coolness. By the way, did the idea of Ike using the Berserker critical for while he's using an axe sound good?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-02 08:35:34 +0000 UTC]

Well, I wanted to stick with his RD critical for both sword and axe attacks. It doesn't change regardless of the weapon he's wielding anyway.

Coolness. That bit about Ike as one of the World's Most Dangerous Predators gave me this thought for a gag, inspired by those old Warner Bros. cartoons. You watch those when you were little? I also have an idea for an LOL line for Kiara, if you're interested. Oh, and good news: my wii is fixed!

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-03 00:34:02 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yeah, I've watched those old cartoons before, I think. What's your gag idea?

And I'm interested in your idea for Kiara too!

Also, yay for your Wii!

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2013-02-03 00:47:20 +0000 UTC]

I'll start with the line for Kiara, since I'm going to be heading out any minutes. This is an adapted line, so we'll need to make the appropriate acknowledgements if we use it. Here we go!

Kiara: *speaking with much zeal and trying, with moderate success, to create the whole I'm-the-deadliest-creature-with-XX-chromosomes-you-ever-did-see look* We push ourselves to the end, and, when we reach it, *punches the air* we push further! *tone suddenly wavers, and her tone becomes Florina-esque* So, I guess that's not really the end...is it?

How about it?

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-03 00:58:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh, where are you going?

And...I don't get that line. o.O

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2013-02-03 07:15:18 +0000 UTC]

I went to this pizza place called Urban Pi. Bit of a let down, actually. Anyhow, the idea of the line was that line was that, even though Kiara is reportedly, shy, she might try to come across as tough. But, maybe she trips up during the act? The notion of "pushing ourselves" is to drive ourselves to excel and, in the case of Fire Emblem, kill all them bad guys. The notion of "pushing ourselves to the end" means to do that, and to the very limit of our abilities. The notion was that Kiara trips up on that "and when we reach it, we push further" because she's gotten the literal and the dramatic-figurative mixed up. Did that help? Also, that bit about the WB cartoons was something I pictured as some sort of joke played on Ike that was derived from vintage Taz. When we learn about Taz, he's often described as a vicious, powerful brute, and that's followed by a ridiculously long laundry list of animals that he eats. I can picture that getting Ike riled up, since melodramatic humor about his eating habits seems to be a running gag with him.

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-03 13:01:53 +0000 UTC]

Huh. And yeah, Kiara just might try to act tough, but slip up. She actually CAN be tough at times, but around beorc, not so much.

As for the joke about Ike, that would be funny, actually. XD

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2013-02-04 18:46:41 +0000 UTC]

I'll look for an opportune moment then, and see what the think-box comes up with. It might be in a later chapter, I suspect.

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-04 19:05:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, probably.

By the way, speaking of future chapters, I'm looking to bring Kiara into ch. 34. The beast laguz show up again at the end of 33, so yeah. This is an opportunity to build that up to Kiara's appearance. She'll be with a couple other laguz too. Her friend, and her friend's brother. Yeah, I figure we needed another male cat laguz around besides Ranulf. I mean, right now he kinda sticks out like a sore thumb a bit. lol

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2013-02-04 23:54:41 +0000 UTC]

Makes sense. So, does the love bug hit Ranulf right away? Eyes gaping, tongue lolling out, aroused purring, the whole bit? Or, does that come later? And, I also have this other gag we might consider inserting, for a time when the group decides that it's wiser to circumvent a fight, rather than do battle. Let me know if you want details, and catch you later.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-05 00:18:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, Ranulf doesn't actually fall in love right away (I don't believe in love at first sight, so yeah), but he does find Kiara to be cute/pretty/beautiful/whatever. Basically, he's infatuated with her, which is not actually the same as love. But it turns into love fairly quickly. And eyes gaping, yes, tongue lolling out...eh, I don't see Ranulf doing that. Aroused purring, yeah, definitely. lol

And you have another gag? Go for it! You're awesome at coming up with those.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2013-02-05 02:15:36 +0000 UTC]

Coolness. Anyhow, the gag is based off of the infamous Star Wars Mind Trick. Those are used, somewhat like a spell, to trick a foe into believing that you're not there, or you're someone else, or you're not dangerous, or to distract them which illusions or imagined sounds. Perhaps, after clobbering a high-ranking Meloran Archsage, Soren discovers a charm designed to induce hypnotic suggestions, but it's nearly used up. In one instance, where secrecy outweighs heroic carnage, Ike uses it to bluff his way past a large contingent of Meloran troops. Maybe something like this.

Meloran Captain: By the Goddess' left boob, it's Ike! KILL HIM!
*Meloran troops surround Ike and company on all sides, all wanting to take his head off*
Ike: *in a somewhat snarky tone, and slipping the charm between two fingers behind his back* Why, you must be mistaken. I am not Ike.
Meloran Captain: *scoffs* Have you lost your backbone or your mind? Who, besides Ike, would have that ridiculous haircut?!
Ike: *mutters angrily under his breath, but then assumes a congenial tone* Oh, but it's true. I am not Ike.
Meloran Captain: Oh, really? Let me see your identification.
*Ike brings out the charm and holds it aloft, the stone glows softly*
Ike: You don't need too see my identification.
*The Meloran troops suddenly jerk to a halt, their faces are now expressionless and their eyes take on a glassy, sightless appearance*
Meloran troops: *chorusing in wooden tones* We don't need to see your identification.
Ike: We're not the adventurers you're looking for.
Meloran troops *still chorusing woodenly* You're not the adventurers we're looking for.
Ike: We can go about our business.
Meloran troops: *still chorusing woodenly* You can go about your business.
Ike: Move along.
Meloran troops: *divide to clear the path and begin waving Ike and the army through, now speaking in almost normal tones* Move along, move along!
Ike: *under his breath* I'd just love to see them try to explain this to Isis.

How about it?

Like I said, the best place would be where the group has to avoid raising an alarm. Ike could conclude his little junket by using the charm to make them forget that they ever saw anybody. Sound good?

Ah, I see. I'll soon have FE: Awakening to keep me busy anyway. Though, you might also be pretty busy with it...haha. Speaking of which, I've heard some people out in CA say they're not getting it until the 8th. My GameStop here in NC said tomorrow. Yeah, I wish you could get it at the same time as me. :/

Also, btw, fans have nicknamed the game "Pie-er Emblem: Abakening" XD It's because of all the mention of pie in the game. LOL

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2013-02-05 05:54:06 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think it would be right and proper to finish my current projects before breaking it out. After all, I've kept you all waiting quite a while already, and I have other games in my queue. Yeah, even my games are piling up. One thing I am wondering, do you get the DLC for Fire Emblem Awakening on your PC and transfer it, or does the 3DS handle the purchases and downloads all by itself. And, Pie-er Emblem...just....

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-05 06:20:53 +0000 UTC]

Ah, yeah, that's true. All of us have been waiting awhile. And the 3DS handles all the purchases and downloads itself. You get internet on it, then you go to the eShop. That's where you can download all sorts of stuff. Games, demos, DSi Ware (some software that was for the DSi, I don't know much about it since I never had a DSi myself), Virtual Console, etc. It's just like the Wii's shop channel, basically, only you don't use points anymore, you use actual money from good ol' American plastic.

And yeah, I laughed my ass off when I first saw that nickname too, haha. There's been mention of pie in past FE games too. Like in PoR in Titania's support with Rhys, she says Rhys's mom made great wildberry pie. Man, Japanese must love pie or something. lol

I'm looking over the DLC page on nintendo's website, but the only content I see thus far is Marth's. Are the others going to be released later? I'd like to get some people from FE7-9, and possibly from 6 as well. Also, how do you actually get it onto the 3DS? It says I need to fire up the game first, but I don't see an option for downloading it in the main menu. Please help.

I did some checking and it says that you need to get to a certain location first. Maybe that's why I couldn't just get the DLC from the get-go, like I wanted. But, I can manage.

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-09 22:29:26 +0000 UTC]

OH, yeah, that. You have to complete chapter 4 first in order to unlock wireless communications. I didn't know you hadn't gotten that far yet.

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2013-02-09 22:48:10 +0000 UTC]

I haven't. I just now got it out of the box. I wanted to see if I could purchase the DLC before I got started, but it seems I can't do that. Well, no biggie. I'll get it rolling soon enough. I also wanted to run an idea or two past you for the scene between Elincia and Faline. Maybe we can squeeze in a reference or two about TSS and/or the chapter in Castle Eraghoa?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-09 23:15:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh, my bad then. And that sounds like a good idea, but which chapter with Castle Eraghoa do you mean, exactly? I believe there's more than one where the gang is there.

And I take you finished with the BryanxFaline scene?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2013-02-22 02:35:18 +0000 UTC]

Well, first glance with the meeting, I'm thinking there ought to be a mention of what went on leading up to the present. Does anyone in the room have any idea where Shigo might be? If not, maybe there's some debate on how to find out. Maybe there are several suggestions but Bryan is nonplussed because, given the sheer number of places to look in Astryn and the army's skeletal numbers, a thorough search could take months. Maybe another noble or two tack-ends the idea of Bryan addressing the troops by saying he should enact some sort of recruitment drive, or even enact conscription. Any of this sound tantalizing?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2013-02-22 03:18:36 +0000 UTC]

No, nobody knows where Shigo is except that he's somewhere in Astryn. And Bryan does say he wishes to recruit some reinforcements just to be safe. But what you say sounds good to me.
