Description "I never thought I did as well as I could have either.  Yet, you constantly telling me to improve or else get my knighthood stripped really pushed me to make myself a better knight." - Eliot, to Leyon

It's been awhile since I last did an FE: Dawn of Darkness character concept art, hasn't it? (not counting Kiara's cat form, of course) Well, here's Eliot, the final named Talgrian knight!

Class: Lance Paladin

Lv. 8

HP: 40
Str: 21
Mag: 2
Skl: 20
Spd: 17
Luk: 23
Def: 16
Res: 12
Con: 11
Wt: 36
Mov: 9

Weapon: Lance - A

The oldest of the named Talgrian knights, Eliot is also the clumsiest and most impulsive.  Much to General Leyon's chagrin, he often finds himself caught up in Eliot's mishaps, whether it's slamming into Leyon's tent or spilling something on him.  Natalie, the deputy commander, also often scolds him for his reckless behavior.  The scar across his nose was from one of his mishaps as well.  However, he is very skilled with the lance, and despite his seeming ineptitude, it later becomes clear that he has the heart of a true hero.  Eliot ends up saving the lives of both Leyon and Natalie, taking serious injuries in the process, and also plays a major role in restoring Leyon's memory after he loses it from a blow to the head.  Eliot looks up to Leyon despite the superior officer being a couple years younger, and would follow no one else.  It's also heavily implied that he has a crush on Natalie, but does not believe he deserves her.  Even so, Leyon hints that he's trying to get them together anyway.

As you can tell from the title, Eliot also turns out to be a magnificent artist.  He will sometimes paint people, but he much prefers landscapes and can paint such vistas as fields, mountains, lakes, rivers, forests, coastlines, and meadows with impeccable skill.  His pose here depicts him using a technique called the artist's thumb, which helps an artist measure so the subject can be properly centered in the piece.  Eliot later decides to use his skills in a collaboration with fellow Talgrian soldier Morris, where the two design a building.  Morris does the architecture while Eliot pulls a Michelangelo and paints murals on the inside.  It's revealed later that Eliot's grandfather was a respected artist, and Eliot decided to someday follow in his footsteps.  One of the reasons he became a knight was so he could get to travel more and find more subjects to paint.

Eliot is also fascinated with the Talgrian Knights themselves. He is very knowledgeable about their history, as he demonstrates while Leyon is suffering from his memory loss.  This was, of course, another reason he became a knight.  He originally wanted to be a Bow Knight, but found that mounted archery simply wasn't for him (ironically though, he can use bows once he promotes to a Silver Knight. lol).  He studied the lance instead.  It's also discovered that there's a story behind why he so impulsively saved the lives of his superior officers and allowed himself to be injured badly in the process.

As a combatant, Eliot has the highest luck of all the Talgrian knights, but while he's a bit faster than Leyon or Marc, he doesn't have as much strength as the former or as much defense as the latter.  He still has overall balanced stats, aside from low magic and resistance.  He could be good as a backup if fellow lance knight Leona didn't turn out favorably.

Is Eliot an OC for one of your fics?

Sorry I took so long to review this. Things have been busy on my end. Anyhow, this looks pretty good. I really like how you drew Eliot's expression, his brush, and his use of the artist's thumb. I swear, I was half expecting the name of that technique to be more elaborate. The armor looks great, as always. I am wondering, however, are those tails as prominent as you drew them? I'm guessing they're from Radiant Dawn, and possibly Path of Radiance as well, but I don't recall seeing them very clearly. The pose is pretty good also, but I am wondering if it could be improved. Having an easel in the shot might be a bit much, but what about some canvas for him to paint on? Possibly, he could be holding the canvas in his left hand and have the brush between his teeth, but ready to change up the arrangement once he's got a clear picture (pardon the pun) of how the subject ought to be painted. Well, just a though, it looks quite good as-is. Anyhow, I just sent a note with some cosmetic suggestions for the description, which is pretty good for the most part. I hope my suggestions help you, and I'm eager to see what happens next in the DoD-verse.

Yup, the artist's thumb was the first thing to come to mind when I contemplated on how to draw Eliot.

Tails?  You mean the parts of his tunic that are going underneath his thigh armor?  Yeah, a lot of Tellius knights have tunics like that.  Check out Geoffrey or Kieran (RD only) or Titania, for example.

Your idea of having him hold a canvas would've been alright too, but yeah, that's a drastic change to make at this point.  I'll check out your PM in a sec.

Thanks, Falchion!

So, were those tunics RD only? I suspect I either overlooked them or the default camera angle during battle didn't let me see them. Of course, my eyesight has never been stellar. And, yeah, that new pose would take a lot of alteration. But, if you do another pic with Eliot, maybe that pose I suggested could be put to use? Creative recycling. Anyhow, I look forward to seeing your new chapter, and catch you later.

No, they're in PoR too, they're just less prominent there since you don't get as many prepromoted Paladins there as in RD.

And yeah, if I ever draw Eliot again, I'll see if I can have your idea here work.

Awesome.

And you colored him and he looks just as awesome.

One thing though: What are those cloth looking thingys hanging off his leg armor? I don't think I've seen those before.

Yay. ^^

And those are just part of his tunic.  Many knights in Tellius have tunics like that, especially in RD.  Kieran, Titania, Geoffrey, Astrid, and even Makalov all have them there.  Titania also has a long tunic like this in PoR, as does Geoffrey.
