Not to be rude, but Serenade itself just seems a little OP :/

Why? It works exactly like a transformed Heron laguz in the Tellius FE games. When transformed, a heron could grant an extra turn to up to four units at once as long as they were on a square adjacent to said heron. Ralph's Serenade ability does exactly the same.
You're not being rude though, don't worry. I'm just confused here. xP

I dunno. It just feels like an attempt to make an OC superior to Olivia.(I'm not accusing you of doing that tho XP)

Nah, I wasn't trying to, though Ralph might've wound up that way anyway. Still, Olivia DOES have some advantages. She's much faster and more likely to dodge attacks. And she can get certain skills that Ralph cannot since she has different reclass options, including Galeforce. So all in all, Ralph would be superior as a turn-granting unit, while Olivia is likely the better combat option. But if you have both of them granting extra turns to people, well, that works too. ^^

Hey there, sorry I took so long to look this over. We had Grandma Pat, Uncle Mark, and Betsy all fly in today. And, I'm still wrapping gifts. Ugh! Anyhow, this is a fine piece of work. I really like the rationale behind Ralph, namely the masculine singer. Reyson was rather effeminate, so this makes a great contrast. The work you did on his breastplate and cloak is excellent, the scale designs in particular. His face, hair, and pose are also well done. When things calm down here - though, I'm not making any promises about when - I'll have to read HT in detail. The description also has some good content, and that bit about Ralph teaching himself how to sing caught my eye. I'll send a note with some cosmetic revisions, and I hope they help. Anyhow, it's nearly 1 A.M where I'm at, so I need to sign off. Catch you later, and Merry Christmas.

Oh, I have a grandma named Pat too! Well, it's short for Patricia, actually, but people call her Pat.
But having family over is nice! It's almost always just myself, my younger brother, and my parents here. I figured you were busy, though, I've been busy too.
Anyway, I knew you'd like Ralph. ^^ Yeah, the idea of a more masculine singer appealed to me and I liked reflecting Ralph's love of music in his outfit. Also, not surprised you have revision ideas. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, ditto for my grandma. Anyhow, I need to stay loose in case I get roped into any more last minute prep work, so I might not write you for a bit. But, if you have time, I have something for you to chew on. You know how, in DoD, Bryan builds the Free Corp. from the highly irregular irregulars that answer his call to service? I was thinking of some of the finer details therein. Perhaps Bryan (temporarily) breaks up his own platoon by giving its members field commissions as officers or high-ranking N.C.O's in Astryn's army and places various units of the Free Corp. under their command on the company level. And perhaps, when he takes the Free Corp. on their "dry run", they run smack into a Meloran force making a reprisal attack on Astryn. I was also thinking that, since the Free Corp. is a mismatched bunch, we could dovetail that with some mismatched battle cries. Maybe like so:
(Patriotic) "For Bryan and Astryn!" "Pave the way to Astryn's future with her enemies' bodies!" "A new Astryn will rise from our foes' ashes!"
(For home and kin) "For hearth and home!" "Our lands will not be darkened again!" "Bring victory and peace to our people!"
(In it for the money) "Ch-ching!" "Cut open those walking money bags!" "For fortune and glory!"
(Bloodthirsty) "Cleave 'em and spill their gore!" "We will drink from their skulls!" "Bring me their yellow livers!"
(Flamboyant) "To the fight, my friends. Attack!" "Show them your steel, attack!" "Step up to the fight, bring them down!"
(Stoic) "Fight with pride, fight with courage!" "Charge!" "Show the enemy no mercy!"
(Leery about their chances) "We will fight until our flesh is hacked from our bones!" "Band together, we can still win!" "Fight harder, we cannot yield another inch!"
You think that's a good range? Please let me know, and Merry Christmas.

Okay, so it's more of a sparring thing? Like...first to draw blood wins? But yeah, if someone's trying to kill you, you're not going to let them. But I can see Freddy feeling a bit guilty about it. And it would hurt his reputation too before everyone knows the reason why he killed the person. Knight breaking the rules and actually killing and all.

Yeah, pretty much. The contestants can draw blood, just not deal any fatal wounds.
And yeah, Freddy does feel kind of guilty about it. He even refuses to accept the trophy when his name is cleared of the murder charge.

I wonder how that sort of thing would work with mages. It's harder to restrain a fire ball or a lightning bolt...maybe they have special tomes without that much magic in them, so it hurts a bit, but you're not getting 3rd degree burns and stuff like that.
Or maybe they just throw water balloons xD

I don't know, Avatar did just fine holding back in Awakening during the part where he/she drove a bolt of lightning right through Chrom's gut (not the premonition, the redo of the scene later in the game). And he/she was fighting off Grima's control.
lol water balloons. That'd be funny. XD

Yep. It would be interesting/funny for Rene to go to Flavia after Basilio gets killed and say something like "I have some clout now, right? Being married to the new west khan and all...I propose we make the annual tournaments less likely to result in the deaths of Feroxi troops. Everyone but mages gets wooden weapons. Mages get water balloons."

Walhart killed him remember?
Yet he's recruitable in a paralogue like everyone else who dies in the story...honestly, as much as it would be nice for Emmeryn to still live, the only paralogues I see as canon are the ones where you get the kids, Donnel, Anna, and Priam. The ones where dead characters come back to life? Not so much.
And yeah, I shouldve beaten it by now. Got to the part where you face Walhart. Then ORAS came out and I got that and played the crap outta it. Havent touched it for awhile.

Well, you are the age where you could have a job and be earning your own money. If memory serves, your profile says you're a year older than me. Still, sometimes even at adulthood, people need some help from their parents. Especially when times get hard. Even if you're moved away from your parents, it's not unusual to ask them for a little help. My dad even knows it despite that I don't have a close relationship with him since my mom divorced him when I was four. He gives me money every year because he just wants to help take care of his daughter. I don't even ask for it, he's just that nice of a dad. I'm just glad that he has a good paying job, otherwise I might be afraid that he'd wind up giving me too much and not be able to sustain himself. He was in the hospital last year because of some heart and thyroid trouble, so yeah. The insurance he has was able to cover some of it, but not all of it. He had to pay the rest out of his own pocket. If he could afford that, he seems fine, even with how much money he tends to give me.
So yeah, on one hand, your parents do have a point. But on the other, they still sound like they don't want to ever be the least bit helpful...

Well they're helpful with other things. They're just a bit anal about my video games. I do have a job and I get SSI checks because of my disability, so...yeah.
And that's cool of your dad to do that.

I...don't know. But I know my parents had to struggle a lot to get it. I think it's because my meds are expensive, but then again, medicaid does that...
Maybe it has something to do with the different states we live in. They probably have stricter standards where you are.

You have to take meds? What for, just out of curiosity? I haven't had to take meds since I had epilepsy (the meds more or less cured it). I did take some before that because I was misdiagnosed with ADHD, but yeah.
That's true, it could be something to do with the standards here. States tend to do certain things differently, you're right.

RubyDragonCat In reply to Anacybele [2014-12-20 22:13:11 +0000 UTC]
I was misdiagnosed too. ADHD, Bipolar...mostly the reason is to help with the mood swings and stuff like that that made it look like I had ADHD/Bipolar. They're weaning me down, but pretty much since I've been on them since around 1st grade I kinda depend on them. Not the same kinds, but yeah.
Epilepsy...I'm glad I never have to deal with seizures. They're pretty nasty. I remember I knew a girl who had them and one time she made a gargling noise and fell out of her chair and hit her head on the floor and was unresponsive. I think 911 had to be called. It was scary.
But that's good that you don't have them now...

Anacybele In reply to RubyDragonCat [2014-12-20 22:30:47 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, misdiagnosing Asperger's people with ADHD is actually common, I've read. I was taken off my meds (the ADHD ones and all) because they were doing more bad to me than good. Sure, they did make me less hyper... But they also destroyed my appetite. I was never hungry at lunch, nor when I got home from school. One medication also put me right to sleep instantly. I couldn't take it during the day because I'd fall asleep in school, and I couldn't take it at night because then I'd have trouble getting up for school. My mom thinks one or two of those meds might've hindered my growth too, and I can believe it, because I never had a growth spurt in my teen years, and you're supposed to have one during that time. I haven't grown at all since maybe sixth grade. I know, because I have a kid's sweatshirt that I got way back in elementary school and I can still wear it.
Oh, I can believe it's scary. I've had to go through the same experience more than once because of my seizures. I've been hospitalized multiple times and my blood sugar kept taking a nose dive. So the nurses gave me sugar juice to fix it and used the pinchy thing that diabetics use to check it. I was on seizure medicine for a few years before they stopped. Old computer monitors and TVs and stuff with flashy-ness caused them. I don't believe my epilepsy is fully cured though, as I still can't look at flashy stuff for more than like five seconds before I start to feel like I'm about to go into another seizure. Plus, epilepsy is not actually a disease or disorder itself. It's really a symptom of an underlying problem. Symptoms can easily come back. And many things can cause epilepsy. Head injuries, mental disorders, brain tumors, the like. And it just so happens that when I was little, I took a nasty blow to the head after tripping on a dog chain. It was bad enough to require staples to be put in my head (my mom was like wtf, seriously? But yeah). I still think that this is what caused the seizures. I didn't start looking at those old computer monitors a lot until late in elementary school which is when the seizures started. And I still have the bump on the back of my head too. I can't lay my head on a hard floor evenly because that bump messes it up. Made doing certain exercises in gym class kind of uncomfortable. >.>

Crazy, you tripped over a dog chain and got that bad of a bump? Wow...
Good thing you don't live here then. My brother got our parents to buy a christmas light music thingy for the lights strung all over the outside of the house and it's so flashy and annoying. I have an apartment but every time I go back there I swear it would cause epileptic fits if anyone who had it saw it. He thinks it's just the best and coolest thing ever and wants everyone to stand out and watch it in the cold. I made him mad because I finally got annoyed and said "Nice, they blink."
