Description
Finally done!I'm pretty satisfied with the final result.
I'm sure i could improve it, but to be honest I'm proud i even got there considering i've only been using max for 1 month.
Thanks to everyone who helped me in the chat at
Model was modeled in Zmodeler 1.07b
Rendered in 3Dsmax 2009 using Mental Ray
Textures Done in Photoshop cs4, except the water one which is from 3dsmax.
Smoke made with Fumefx
Water done in Dreamscape
This was done for the SteamPunk themed contest hosted at the club.

On the side of advanced critique, I think you might've had better luck if you did the smoke in photoshop. It would've looked less... uhm. like a solid. Like you could cut it with a knife.

I was experimenting with a pluggin in max for the smoke, i'm not really used to it but i'll improve

thats pretty good, especially after only a month - I've been using max for almost 4 months now and I couldnt make something like that! although my instructor is taking it very slowly...
anyway its a great render, although you may want to make the smoke towers more equal in color. maybe lighten the black and darken the white.

Just to clarify; most of the model was not modelled in max, it was mostly the rendering part that i used max for.
I wasn't too used to FumeFx yet (the max Pluggin for the smoke), but yeah .. now that you mention it maybe the white could be a bit darker, although steam tends to be very white

The white spot-light between the firewall and boiler looks a little out of place.
