A fanart speed painting, because I felt like doing it though my self-confidence problem is not over.
But actually I will draw more mythology, calligraphy stuff and so on.In the Lion King musical it is mentioned that Nala's mother killed Banzai's father, so I drew little crying Banzai as cubbie (that could be the reason why he hates lions so much). Isn't he cute? Yes, the hyenas have emotions, too!
I like it to show them in a lovely way. And I love emotional sad pictures.Done with Photoshop

My theory is similar, but Shenzi is just the mother of Janja, Chungu, and Cheezi. Asante (Kopa's Hyena Friend) is the mother of Jasiri. Banzai would be the father of Janja and Chungu while Ed would be the father of Cheezi. The father of Jasiri is Leyar who had Asante as a mate until Kopa took her. This caused Leyar to abuse Jasiri to the point of her running away and joining Janja and his clan.

Well, it may be dark but how else would it be? Asante was terrified of Leyar and felt Kopa was a better match for her anyway. Leyar abused Asante too. He was never a good hyena and really only wanted the pride lands for himself. If you're wondering, Kopa is waaay older then Kion (About 20 years apart in human age). Honestly, while Janja and his clan are in their teens Jasiri felt they would treat her better then her father. They certainly did and still do.

Oh, Banzai. Nice drawing, i love the hyenas so much! I love them as individuals and as a group, and I was starting to think about what Banzai went through after his dad was killed by Sarafina. Honestly, that sort of made me hate her because i hate seeing the hyenas sad or suffering. It's unfair

This is such a poignant scene. Poor little Banzai...
Even though i love TLK and i am a fan of the hyena trio, i still think the entire movie is totally one-sided and unfair towards hyenas. I mean, Mufasa showers the audience with his oh-so-smart prechifying about the importance of all creatures in the Circle of Life, and how there's a balance, etc... Well, what about the hyenas, then? Are they expendable to the point that it's okay to banish them out of the Pridelands and make them starve?
Ok, perhaps some of them misbehaved, but is that a reason to make their whole clan pay? What about the children, then? Do they also have to pay for their parents' crimes?

The hyenas are there to clean things up, meaning vaulters can't eat all of the elephant carcasses right? And if the hyenas weren't there dead elephants would just lay every where which would spread decay and filth and then most of the animals would leave....so yeah hyenas have a big part.

Indeed, I totally agree with you! I really like the Lion King movie, but this Circle of Life thing bothers me as well. To let the whole hyena clan pay for what some few hyenas did, well that's not very fair (or clever).
Deviantart is full with Lion King fanart where the oh so evil and nasty hyenas always chase poor little lion cubs and try to eat them or where adult lions kill hyenas (because they are so evil, so they have to be destroyed -.-). Nice.
That's why I drew this - as counterpart of all those certain fanarts. And because I love hyenas and want to show them in a good light. The stereotype of the nasty, stupid, coward hyena is so annoying, one-sided and frumpy.

Have you also noticed how there are no hyena cubs at all in the movie? Real life baby hyenas are incredibly sweet, however Disney didn't include any 
I mean, things are far more complex than that in the real world : nobody is 100% evil or 100% good, and a person's behavior or personality is nothing but a direct reflection of the good / evil that was done to them.
I myself wrote a big TLK fanfic entitled "Light For Everyone" (published on both FF and DA), which deals with such ideas : that no one is ever beyond redemption, that a punishment must also be lifted at some point so the punished one may progress and better himself, and that enmities between beings are often just a matter of ignorance and lack of mutual understanding

I love TLK, and the hyenas, even though I was aware that they were the antagonists in the movie. But when it comes to pictures like this, it might come to show us that there is another side to the antagonists that we never saw in the movie. Yet I don't remember ever hearing in the Lion King musical that it was Nala's mother that killed Banzai's father; only that I remember in the lyrics of "Chow Down" saying "..and having parents eaten makes us mad".
