Entered in the Harry Potter Contest by *dark-fantasy [link]edit : this really needs full view, otherwise it's impossible to see his face
This started off as a sketchbook doodle but I can't seem to leave anything at doodle stage... I'm quite happy with it even though it's a bit over the top and Snape really ought to be uglier, but I have a hard time making people ugly
I'm only used to drawing etheral looking girls, not greasy gits.watercolours and white gouache
Severus belongs to JKR..
(also, why can't I write a longer title? slightly annoying but it's the law...)

May I just come back here to say that I think about this all the time - this and the other one you drew of his first day teaching are pretty close to how I picture him in canon. This one in particular is great, you've made him look just as young and nasty and stupid as he undoubtedly was. Such a little Johnny Rotten. The colors in his skin are amazing - I feel like if I saw him up close he'd have zits, and he'd probably say something indescribably rude. Oof, Snape, you're making my heart hurt.

There were times when he was that dark. Poor Severus, I wish he knew better then, but I know he wouldn't be the same person if he did. Anyway I believe he's the most tragic character from HP.

Gorgeous. You've done amazing work, once again. This is very close to how I see him at this stage, actually.
I am particularly enamored with the expression on his face. There are so many emotions there, simmering just beneath the surface, and yet, you can't quite pin down even a single one. Very appropriate for Severus Snape.

I like this portrait of the Dark Artist as a young man very much; it looks like the same person you painted so beautifully before. In a peculiar way, perhaps he's entitled to look well; before the prophesy when things went pear-shaped, he might have quite enjoyed this period.
