Description I watched the anime Houshin Engi years ago, and Bunchu was by far my fav character, the biggest badass in the entire series but this... in the manga this guy take on BOTH sides of the conflict and utterly smashes them, truly a fearsome guy.

Ahh yes, his voice sounds really badass when he said that (there are dialogues and scenes that are not in the anime featured in the PS Game), but really, he always sound so badass (his young voice is really cute though xD). This guy is fearsome and persistent, indeed, but I love him most for his story.

TuT I just love him a lot.

Yeah he is a badass above badasses, pounding all the opposition in his way, intimidating even his Emperor. Truly a fearsome and awesome person.

Hell, he's badass.
And the black cloak doesn't really help devalue that.

Well he is the man who pounded two opposite sites to near non-existence and didn't even break a sweat, you really don't get much more badass than that.

I take what you said...
And raise you Jack Rakan! The man who kept beating his adversary beyond death even after getting his arms and legs chopped off and materialized himself out of non-existance from pure willpower!

Oh wait. "Awesome" isn't always the same as "badass" is it?
But who cares! Rakan's still badass!

Wild Card at his best? it really is a pain in the ass, when besides your enemies there is this one damn bastard, who doesn't give a shit of either you or your enemies and even has enough power to take both sides on. XD

Andarion In reply to Kalduin [2010-12-21 11:36:32 +0000 UTC]

Well less of a wild card and more of a Third Party, he was siding with one of the sides and used them to fight for him and led to their destruction And Then he attacked and almost annihilated the second side. You really should read Houshin Engi, a great manga, lots and LOTS of plot twists, here is the opening to anime

But it's better to read manga, anime ended the same way as Soul Eater and first FML, drifted away from manga and made its own ending. Not to mention modifying some stuff.

Weaken both sides to your own advantage. I first thought that he was more of that wild brutal type, who is in love of power and wrecks both sides only to show them how pathetic they are. Too much Yujiro lately has made me forget good old normal tactics. XD
Kind of nostalgic animation style. Reminds me a bit of Escaflowne, the anime that I watched once and only thing I remember is that I have watched it. XD
Also reminds me of Rayearth. And this feeling is good.
Thank you for your assistance! I shall remember it. Until the day I have again that wonderful substance called "free time".

Never really got into reading Houshin Engi, but that was mostly because I quickly got sucked into *trying* to read all the Ranma 1/2 and Black Cat volumes and then transfered to Negima with Naruto and Bleach on the side...

Haha you definitely should read it, if you liked Negi's clever way of fighting you'll just LOVE Taikobou, he is the most clever, underhanded and treacherous shonen protagonist EVER, during one fight he beat a guy who could summon and control a Sea by turning said sea into SAKE and then forcing the guy to drink it XD

...um...wow. That is an interesting way to fight for a protagonist OR an antagonist. Sounds like an Anti-Hero...

Well he may appear like one from time to time (like when he took his own friend hostage) but in reality it's hard to find anyone who cares about human life more, he Really cares about his friends and other people... which doesn't stop him from tricking them, teasing them and all-around-the-place cheating money out of people.

oh yes, Bunchu, right?

started as a normal Human, then became a Sendou through Training, bone shattering, life-risking, no-goal-set Training, but still something considered impossible, till HE came

after starting as a Sendou, he get stronger and stronger and never stopped improving
his Talent was not so great, but his constant practise put him into the world's Top 5
in the end he was so powerful, the only way to kill him would be "driving into suicide", cue Dakki

truely, a man made of Badass

Yup [reads the description, thinks for a moment and then goes pale] Doesn't it... Doesn't it make him Houshin Engi's Rakan ?? HIM ?? Oh you mean Youzen's pops ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

neogoki In reply to Andarion [2010-12-14 18:21:53 +0000 UTC]

in terms of manliness and power, oh hell yes
personality, not so much
I think Rakan is a free type and in some aspects more mature(you read right) than Bunchu

not, I meant Bunchu, it was impossible to become a sendou, without being born with the right bones
then Bunchu came and did the impossible, by random training

but Youzen's old man(what his name again?) is worth a HIM, just checkout than badass-beard
