even though the focus is brought towards the USR (unidentified Sentient Race) the background tells a better story of what happened, the chaos the town endured, and the falling ash gives the feeling that the search and struggle continues even through this scene! amazing job!

Looks pretty damn sick, the front character's also really well rendered. I would've sworn it were 3D if you hadn't mentioned it.
I'm also facepalming at all the 'This looks like Geth/Mass Effect' comments. The design isn't even remotely close, the comparison stops right after the 'Sci-Fi apocalypse' atmosphere. I've never understood why it's worth pointing out that a painting someone put effort into happens to look a lot like something already existant. Something something nothing new something the sun.
